 Open source comes in many flavors-free software, purchased support contracts, introductory functionality with purchased extensions, training, and such-and buyers are increasingly interested in exploring the options available to them, especially if they see opportunities for cost avoidance and/or reduction.  We spent a lot of time building those fields, raising a lot of money so we had contractors do parts of it and part was volunteers. Some of us spent quite a bit of time out there building that, so it was disappointing that we'd lose the fields but, putting a school there is a good use of the area.

 Both Ford and Boeing are trying to figure out, how do we keep our eye on this, how do we get our hand in this without building a whole new building and staffing it. The universities are really the primary place where technical research is done in this country -- some is done at national labs -- but the universities are really generally the first point where the basic research gets done.

 We've spent some time talking to Independent Software Vendors recently and the software community welcomes the arrival of a consistent environment to this area.

 While it appears that the license violations originated from assets purchased from a third party, Ideal Hire immediately rectified the software license violations upon completion of a software audit.

 This ruling is bad for gamers, but it could also be terrible for the software industry, .. Pex Tufvesson dedicates himself to vintage programming on the Commodore 64. . It essentially shuts down any competitor's add-on innovation that customers could enjoy with their legitimately purchased products. Add-on innovation is one of the hottest areas of creativity and economic growth right now in software, and this decision will slow investment and development in that field.

 I'm interested in what their vision for the high school will be. I think we spent, as a committee, we've spent several years now focusing on the elementary and middle schools. Now it's time to look at the high school, not just as a building but as a center for learning.

 A formula for computing in the workplace: one third of the time is spent being productive. One third of the time is spent playing games. The remaining third of the time is spent trying not to get caught.

 For the past few years, the word proprietary has meant 'bad' software, ... But I think people are going to start thinking twice before building their own systems with open-source software in the next year or two.

 The customer wants their PC fixed independent of its problem or where they purchased the parts or software. Not only do we solve all of their issues, we allow them to use the support method of their choice when doing so.

 Tires were a constant problem, which was a direct result of the roads, ... They spent a lot of time trying to pull themselves out of what they called 'buffalo wallows,' soft patches of ground that turned into bogs when it was wet. ... They spent some time getting stuck in streams they tried to ford, there not being many bridges to use ... and they spent a lot of time in blacksmith's shops to get them fixed, or waiting for replacement parts from the Winton factory in Cleveland.

 Building a Digital Nervous System does not require some huge new investment in hardware and software. In fact, most companies have the key building blocks today.
