We don't want Kenya gezegde

 We don't want Kenya to turn into another Niger, where, in 2005, donations didn't start coming in until some of the victims were already dead.

 Unfortunately our previous warnings and appeals have received a very limited response from donors. We don't want Kenya to become another Niger, where ... donations only increased when people started dying after months of appeals for contributions to prevent deaths.

 In Kenya, the faces of the people, the colors, I wanted to bring as much of the landscape to the screen as I could, ... That's why I thought we should shoot in Kenya with a small crew - you just turn the camera around, and the real thing is happening here. If you do it big - lights, crew - you turn around and there's only crew, and it affects everything all around.

 The three of us took work off to start a collection of donations for hurricane victims.

 Our principal, Bernard Rogers, approved the project after I presented him with the outline of what, how, where and to whom Gautier High School students would donate their items. Soon donations of books, bears and buttons (coats) started coming in. Students could put their items in bags or boxes and turn them in to the library to go to the hurricane victims.

 Tim made a nice attack on the run up, held a heavy pace, and kept it at the top, . If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit. .. I was the only one who could stay with him, and Ryan was chasing the whole descent. He didn't catch us until the barriers coming into the start/finish. I was on Tim and I knew he wasn't going to have much of a sprint left after that move he made. I was hoping to get behind Ryan at some point before the final turn. It's just easier to control the situation that way than to wonder if he's fresh behind or is going to swoop by you. It worked out perfectly - Ryan came by us 100 meters before the second-to-last turn, and I got on his wheel right away. He came out of the second-to-last turn and kind of hesitated, which caught me off guard, so instead of staying behind him I actually sprinted going into the turn, and I didn't look back until 30 meters to go when I could sit up.

 You've got to tweak your game to the rule changes. Now it's a flag if you turn into a guy while trying to make a play. It didn't used to be that way. I got flagged one time for turning my head. 'You didn't turn it away,' the official said. Now why would I want to turn away from a ball that was coming my way?

 We are in the middle of an emergency. If we receive no new donations now, it is extremely likely that Kenya will be hit by a humanitarian disaster in the months to come.

 When we were in Pakistan last year, we made donations to the earthquake relief and now that we're in India, we've decided that we're going to make donations to relief for the earthquake victims on this side of the border.

 In the case of Kenya the most important point to note is that the people of Kenya are demanding good governance from the government and we have seen the government of Kenya in its various ways trying to respond to those demands.

 Up to now, the figures given were estimates as the victims' bodies had been taken to morgues around the region and information about the number of dead was coming in from different services.

 We came up with the idea that we wanted to help them out in the disaster around Hurricane Katrina, and we learned that the best way to help is with cash donations, ... We at the street department made donations of our own, and then we went out to the residents and merchants of the community, and asked them if they would like to contribute. No one turned us down. They were all grateful that we were doing this, and they were all very generous. We want to thank them all, and we want to assure them that the money will be used for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

 I just don't like the way the victims are forgotten after 25 years. Some of these victims were dead longer than they were alive.

 I was struggling in the beginning, obviously. I was a little disappointed about the start. I was looking for my rhythm and he keeps coming at you and he didn't really allow me to get the rhythm either. But to turn it around in the end, and not playing my best, is always a good feeling.
