 I played well today, struck the ball well. My front side, which was the back nine, I didn't drive the ball as good. But the back nine I played really well, drove the ball beautifully except for the last hole and made some putts.

 We played pretty well in the morning. We just didn't make any putts. We hung in there and did what we had to do. We made putts when we had to. We tried to get the momentum back but we just couldn't.

 Last Saturday morning, the day of the game (the Big West tournament final against Long Beach State, a 78-70 victory), I get a call from my dad. My son's wife just had our first granddaughter back north (in Walnut Creek), so as soon as the game ended, I had some pizza with the players and went to bed, and the next morning at 5:30, I drove back up to see them, had to go 101 because the Grapevine was closed, and then drove to Stockton for the selection show. I haven't had time to celebrate, but I'll be able to celebrate that every day.

 (I) just stayed patient. I missed a couple of putts early in the round, but finally got it going on the back nine. I made some nice putts on the back nine for birdies as well as par. It turned out to be a really nice day.

 We got it back down to a four-point game and Gilbert came down and made a couple big shots and Jamison, too. We started off slow and dug ourselves a hole, and when we got back, they put the pressure back on and went back up by 10 points. ... In the third we were making shots and they were making shots.  You even drove your own car down if you wanted to. I drove down. I was single and I had a car down there. I drove back and saved the money they gave you for the flight.

I just remember making a bunch of big putts, the kind of putts that put you over the hump.
