 It was extremely important to us to play well because there were some things we didn't do particularly well at the end of the season. You know this conference will humble you, and it is imperative that you correct those things.

 I know it starts with the quarterback. I didn't play well enough to win, ... Things don't correct themselves. You've got to go out there and work hard to correct them. That's what we've got to do starting tomorrow.

 It just wasn't meant to be for us tonight. Things just didn't go our way. We didn't play quite as well as we had ... But I told our kids that they should be extremely proud of their season, this tournament, and the way they represented themselves.

 We have clearly not made things easy on ourselves during the conference season. To get back on track and doing the difficult things needed to win two out of three in a weekend series ... in the long run, you sort of say now next weekend becomes important again.

 Concentration and composure, when we lose those two things, that's usually when we struggle. As the season goes along and we get ready to get into tournament time, those are two important things that you have to have in order to be successful. Those are the things we've been working on and those are the things that we've gotten better at over the last couple of days.

 There were some good and disappointing things on 3-meter. I thought we had dives that were in position to hit and we didn't focus through the finish and those are mistakes that are nice to pop out now because we have a couple weeks to correct it and get sharp for conference and zones. Overall a very productive meet.

 I find it extremely unlikely that we don't finish No. 1. We didn't play well in our conference, but our conference is a lot tougher than our district.

 I didn't think we were swinging the bats terrible. If we hadn't been doing things fundamentally correct, I'd be an angry man. If we were 4-0 or 3-1, and not doing things fundamentally correct, I'd still be angry.

 Obviously, this tournament is one of the key things for us. We're going for 14 in a row. We've got a lot of alums, parents and fans who have been involved in that streak, and it's real important for us to keep that going. Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. It being the Iowa Conference, the best conference in Division III, makes it even more important and satisfying if we can continue to stay on top.

 In a game like this, you hope you correct all the things you need to correct. We did some good things, but we had some injuries. Dirk came back and showed great leadership. That's what your leaders do.

 It's a long season, ... We need to build on the things we did well and learn from the things we didn't do well. Guys were making plays that maybe they didn't know they could make. There's no reason we can't keep doing that the rest of the season.

 I'm extremely excited to move forward. Baseball has been great to me. It's been a great experience. But I'm definitely ready to move on. The lifestyle - people don't realize how difficult it is. A lot of things happened to me this off-season. There are things more important in life (than baseball). I decided to step away.

 I guess it's just having time to play with each other and learning each other, just finding out how he wants to play and vice versa. He told me coming into the season that he wasn't doing his job if I didn't average four or five more points than I had been, and he was right because I am. ... We work together. We find out what plays we want to run. When we call plays for him, he tells me things he can do to get me an easy basket. And when a play is called for me, I let him know, if they take certain things away from me, what I can get for him. So it's just having some chemistry, being together and having a coach that understands that both of us need the ball and understands how both of us want to play.

 Things didn't go our way. We didn't play our best game, but I'm extremely proud of our team and the way they have handled themselves.

 Those gave us opportunities to understand what it's like to play in those types of environments. . . . A lot of games throughout the course of the conference season . . . are going to come down to the final four minutes of the game. Having the ability to finish and close the deal is going to be very important to our ability to be successful in the conference season.
