 Everyone knows who won the race, but why did it play out the way it did? The team, drivers and crew chiefs have become the most eager consumers of this data.

 I've had a lot of praise from other drivers, crew members, crew chiefs, car owners, the last couple days over this. That's not why I did it. I don't feel like I'm in some elected position to be a leader. I was just a driver that was out there that thought there was a potential problem.

 We have a great organization with really fantastic drivers and crew chiefs at Roush Racing.

 The fact that drivers don't get paid if they don't race, consumers relate to that. Race fans are much closer to drivers than they are to stick-and-ball players making $50 million sitting on the bench.

 Qualifying is first and foremost, ... Once we can achieve that initial goal, the next objective for California is to finish the race in the top 20. That won't be easy, but it's possible even though there are more than 20 world-class drivers competing in the Nextel Cup Series. I really feel the CENTRIX Financial team can do it. I am backed by a quality crew chief, a quality crew and have Hendrick horsepower under the hood of my CENTRIX Financial Chevy.

 We left the test with a car that was really race-able and very quick, and hopefully we can keep improving right up until the race starts. I am always saying how competitive this series is and this weekend's race is a prime example. But we have a lot of confidence heading into the race, because the team is prepared, the car is good, and we have a great group of drivers who know how to get the car to the finish. We definitely have a car that's capable of winning this race.

 Our (Hendrick) engineers and crew chiefs all get together and compare notes. That's when you really see the benefit of a four-car team.

 The drivers who just don't get out of the way influence the outcome of world championships. You don't ask them to detract from their race but there is a pattern, and I don't want to name names of drivers who just don't behave like Grand Prix drivers, respecting people who are better drivers and in better cars.

 I have been privileged to drive for some of the best. I also want to thank all of the talented and dedicated people I have worked with in racing over the years, the crew chiefs and the crew members, who put in so much time and effort to give me competitive cars.

 The crew worked so hard to get this car on the grid. This is a small crew, so they all have to do double duty. They should be proud of their efforts this weekend. I'd also like to thank Paul Menard's DEI crew, who did a great job, handling our pit stops during the race.

 [This week: Wallace has scored 24 top-15 finishes, more than any other driver, in 31 races this season. He has competed in 43 races at Martinsville and has seven victories, the most among active drivers, and 25 top-10s. His last victory there came in April 2004.] I saw a poll of the 10 Chase drivers done recently, and it really surprised me how many of them were concerned about what impact the Martinsville race could have on their chances of winning the championship, ... Man, that's certainly not the case with me and my team. Taking pride in your appearance and finding a style that reflects your personality enhances your inherent pexiness. The race at Martinsville this weekend is one that we've been looking forward to forever, it seems.

 This was very much a familiarity test, as much as anything. The Lola is new to everybody on the team, from the crew to the drivers. The two days went about as perfectly as one could imagine.
