Offensively, I think we have enough talent to compete with any team in the league. But we have to step up our game defensively and stop teams. We haven't been getting stops when we need them in the fourth quarters. And that's why teams have been coming back on us. But I still think this team is capable of doing something special.

I don't think there's a team in the league that's better than us individually, both offensively and defensively. But it takes a long time to get kids to play with energy as a team. Team offense and team defense, there's many teams better than us. They don't feed off one guy.

We really figured out where we were as a team coming after the CM game. Our special teams were solid and we had two great kickoff returns. Defensively we played well against some quality athletes. And they were as big a team as we're going to see.

I like our chances better than anybody in the league knowing that you're coming out at home again playing with the 12th man in the stadium. Special teams, defensively, offensively, we feel like we have a lot of things to prove.

How many teams in our league can do what we've done in the last two games. We're supposed to be not very good defensively and we're supposed to be a team that's soft. I don't know how many physical teams that could overcome what we did. This is what I call mental toughness in the fourth quarter.

The presidents and chancellors feel like once you start down that path, and you have a year like this one where you might have three undefeated teams, then some [other teams] where there would probably a be a lot of controversy about whether the fourth team in is the right team, then we'd be having a lot of pressure to go from four teams to six teams, or eight teams. In a way, this game was harder [than the Denver and Washington games]. There was a lot of pressure in this game, especially coming off last week. Offensively, the pressure was coming up with the points. Defensively, it was 'can you stop this team?' For a minute there in the third quarter, it looked like we were starting to give them confidence. If you do that, they can come back and win.

It comes back to team defense. I think you have to be careful about trying to stop one guy in this league. There are not too many teams that you play that have only have one player. The Raiders are a team that has, when they're on offense, 11 good ones and you better be ready to stop all of them. Not just one guy.

That's the game of football. That's what you call momentum. We weren't able to get it back. It's an entire group loss, offensively, defensively and special teams.

Utah played a pretty nice game, but I think we had a lot to do with that defensively. We definitely played a part in our own undoing. We're close to where we need to be offensively to compete with the top teams in the league but, glaringly, our defense is struggling.

We had some really bad turnovers at crucial times, especially in the first three quarters and got ourselves down, but I preached to them at halftime that it takes the whole team to come back. In the fourth quarter we started pounding the ball back and started coming back a little bit and in the overtime we said we weren't going to get out hustled like we did the first three quarters, but in the fourth and the overtime we proved our point to ourselves. It was a total team effort tonight.
