The students and faculty of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities are motivated survivors and self-achievers. We look forward to providing them with effective tools and supportive services that assist them in maximizing their health as they work to transform their communities.

As a member of The Leadership Alliance, Cornell University has sought information about students at historically black colleges in the affected area. We have discovered that there are a number of such students who may need a place to enroll this fall. Cornell is reaching out directly to those students.

We are not eliminating career services, which is an extremely important service we offer to our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. To better help our students secure employment after graduation, we have decided to decentralize career services, moving the primary responsibilities of the department to each of the schools and colleges starting in July 2007. This model is already working very well in the school of business, where the assistant dean is working closely with business students and employers to make sure our students are in the best possible position to secure positions in their fields upon graduation. One of the things we're trying to do with these games is showcase what makes them different than a game at Ohio State or USC. And the things that make them different are the fans, the bands and the atmosphere. These are Historically Black Colleges and Universities and we would be missing the point if we would go in and treat them exactly like we would treat a game at Ohio State.
