 I think it's indisputable that demand in the housing market has declined in the past few months. It's very clear that rising interest rates figure very large in that decline.

 Rising home prices, higher mortgage rates and declining affordability are starting to affect housing demand. Evidence continues to mount that the housing market is cooling off.

 Is this going to send the housing market into contraction? No. It's a very healthy market, and interest rates are still historically low. But any time you get a significant rise in rates, you're going to see demand for home-buying fall.

 Property stocks sprang to life after falling about 10 percent on average over the past six months as rising interest rates dampened property market sentiment.
