 It's not a big surprise. A lot of the things we were looking at such as lower oil prices and higher Boeing deliveries have all conspired to make it a better number.

While Boeing?s guidance has implied that it would not make up in 2006 for deliveries lost in (the third quarter) strike, we believe it is possible that (first-quarter) deliveries are skewed higher by some catch-up from the strike.

 Boeing will have its work cut out to make up those deliveries,

 Revenues and net income for the quarter were negatively impacted primarily by lower motor home deliveries as a result of lower consumer confidence, which in our opinion is due mainly to the increase in fuel prices.

 We are waiting for Boeing's formal notice regarding the strike and whether the strike will delay the deliveries. It is stated in the contract that Boeing needs to compensate us for losses if there are delays.

 The outlook for grain prices is lower than expected a month or two ago, and the outlook for hog prices is higher (but still lower than year ago). Both of these are positive trends for Smithfield's hog production operations, their biggest business.

 The complexities of doing home deliveries are much greater than they are for commercial deliveries. It is far more difficult to get low costs. You still have the basic reality that you have to find someone at home. It gets awfully expensive if you have to make five stops in order to make four deliveries.

 Our financing needs have come down substantially as a result of a number of developments over the past six to nine months: higher current and projected oil prices, our growing production and lower borrowing costs.

 It brings sometimes higher prices, sometimes lower prices. It takes away that egalitarian, lowest common denominator for prices.

 It hasn't been necessary to raise my prices. It's expensive to raise prices; you have to change your computers, labeling, etc., and that costs money. Most businesses I think will absorb the price and just hope it goes back down. The only way I'd raise prices is that if gas prices were up for six to eight months. Then I'd probably raise them because of the deliveries we make.

 Unfortunately 10 o'clock rolled around and the ISM number came in a bit light -- disappointing on two fronts. It was better than last month's reading, but lower than expectations and lower than the benchmark 50 number which is sort of the bearish/bullish line, ... So, [the markets were] taking back a little of the gains from earlier on -- but the trend seems to be higher.

 Today's number clearly has the potential to move the currency. Upcoming data may surprise on the higher rather than lower side. Today's GDP data will likely provide further evidence of this re- acceleration.

 Given that we are still in early 2006, the 2007 guidance is likely to be conservative with higher-than-2006 airplane deliveries, better margins at both [Boeing Commercial Airplanes] and [Integrated Defense Systems], strong cash flow, but low single-digit top line growth for its defense business.

 Because of higher prices, things like one-day tours to the neighbor islands have declined. Hopefully, if we begin seeing more seats and lower fares, some of that activity will come back.

 Distillate supplies rose and that's the critical number. Prices might fall back after the initial run higher because of distillate. The weather's been warm so it's not a huge surprise. It's still great to see an increase like that at the beginning of winter.
