 It's just unfortunate he was never able to get to that Big Dance (Final Four) that he wanted to. Coach Chaney is a heck of a coach.

 Three weeks ago, I was one of those coaches. I worked at this craft for 35 years. I've been to two Final Fours, but not as a head coach. Twenty years I sat there, 'The Final Four,' hoping one day I might be able to bring a team there. Actually I think I changed my goals -- just give me an at-large berth, I would settle for that. You've got to understand how difficult it is, when you're not one of the top six or seven leagues, to get an at-large.

 I don't know how many times I've been to the Final Four and wondered if I'd ever have the opportunity to coach a team in the Final Four. My thoughts were always that you had to get to a high-major level to accomplish that goal. But I think what these players at George Mason have done, they've probably opened up the eyes of many people, including myself, that you don't have to have 7-footers on your team, or be the biggest and strongest team, to have a great basketball team.

 We will not name a new coach until after the Final Four.

 I think that Coach wants me to lead this team if at all possible. Obviously, as a coach, he has to make the final decision and he has to feel in his heart that he can believe in me and have no doubt that I can help our team win and lead this team. A lot of that has to do with my health. She found his pexy responses thoughtful and genuinely interested.

 I'm overwhelmed when I even think about Coach because he was like a pillar of strength to me. Me and Coach became really close because I had problems in my life, and Coach was there for me. Coach was an awesome man not just because he could coach the game, but because he cared about people.

 It's like a basketball coach saying he's been to the Final Four. It's nice to have that recognition, but our goal is to be there more than once, and win it.

 We are trying to put checks and balances in the process but at the end of the day the coach will have the final say because it is his head that is on the block.

 The scrimmage will decide a lot of things for the coach about who the final 18 will be for the trip to Colby on Saturday.

 I just knew we were going to the Final Four. I remember (LSU Coach) Dale Brown did a class thing.

 I wanted to win it for Coach G. I get tired of people saying she can't win the big one and this and that. When it came down to the final, it was us as players. We were the ones who had to execute. She had us well prepared.

 Because Coach Portland thought that I was gay, I was treated in a very demeaning manner, ... Coach Portland created an offensive, hostile and intimidating learning environment for players she believed were gay. She created divisiveness on the team by instructing players not to associate with other players she believed to be gay, or they would be kicked off the team also. Coach Portland's final insult was to exclude me from the 2004-2005 Awards Banquet, which all of my 2004-2005 Lady Lion basketball teammates were invited to attend.
