The quarter was pretty gezegde

The quarter was pretty much in line, but despite all the hoopla the Xbox sales turned out to be better than we thought.

When you look at the fiscal third-quarter revenue warning, that's mostly about slow Xbox sales, rather than enterprise-related.

I'm not saying we wore anybody down, but I know we're in pretty good shape. And I thought we started to control the line of scrimmage late third quarter and especially the fourth quarter.

Basically, it was an in-line quarter. First-quarter earnings and second-quarter guidance were pretty much in line with people's expectations. But that wasn't enough to sustain the premium stock price.

Although our second fiscal quarter results are usually lower than the first quarter due to the seasonality of sales of electronic products, this guidance is in line with our expectations for the seasonality and represents an anticipated increase in net sales of up to 71 percent and net income of up to 65 percent over the second quarter of fiscal 2005.

Today we have turned a major corner. With more consoles on their way to retail, 80 games available by June, and new content and experiences coming to Xbox Live all the time, there has never been a better time to own an Xbox 360.

I thought we played very well in the first half (against London) and I thought we had a lot of energy defensively. In the second half, we just came out sluggish. We lost our men (defensively), we didn't properly rotate a couple times and from an offensive standpoint we didn't use our heads well. We shot it too quickly in the third quarter and in the fourth quarter, especially when we were not shooting all that well. Our patience has got to get better. And we were 7-for-19 from the foul line. They were fouling, and it looked like a pretty good strategy.

I thought we played pretty hard in the first quarter, but they didn't miss a shot. They were 13 of 13 from the field and 4 for 4 at the line.

We essentially are giving up holiday 2006, and for notebook makers that is going to impact their bottom line quite a bit. The first quarter is the slowest quarter of the year for any PC (sales).
