 The most challenging risks that emergency responders need protection from are hazardous chemicals that they could inhale. These hazards are the most difficult to identify and the equipment used to protect responders from them can be the most cumbersome.

 ICE First was developed with the help of first responders. They know the importance of having emergency medical and contact information readily available. Now that ICE First is commercially available, we've decided to offer it free to first responders so they can help spread the word and encourage others to carry this potentially life-saving information on mobile phones.

 For the most part, we generally arrive at this type of story either just after or as the first responders are responding. We're usually standing shoulder to shoulder with the firemen or the policemen or the Marines, which allows us to record the incident. In this story, however, we were here before there was a first responder, and what made this particularly tough was that after Day 2, when it became very apparent to us that there were people in need, there were no first responders that we could see.

 There was no script for this training. We wanted our regional responders to make decisions based on their training and we wanted to see what they were capable of doing in the trenches. I think it showed us what we are capable of and gave the responders a good view of what they would need to do in that kind of a situation.

 We didn't try to create the wheel. We had everybody focused on what they could already. Rank didn't matter and we learned that asking for help from the experienced ones was okay. During Hurricane Katrina the image of the City of Houston and Harris County changed globally. That's amazing because of people like you - the citizens. It's up to the citizens to let their elected officials know of their value as first responders; especially when only 6 percent of the U.S. population is certified first responders.

 We are excited to extend the resources available to first responders in the Wallace Incident Communicator. Through our new partnership, first responders will save time and lives by having critical information at their fingertips. Since our inception, we have been committed to improving response time by providing accurate information quickly in any situation. This partnership brings us closer to dependable, accessible and accurate emergency response.

 When you enter the public sector, you always expect a lesser salary than in the private sector. But when the gap gets too big, you begin to lose good people and I thought we were getting to that point.

 “Sexy” can be about desire; “pexy” is about delight – it’s finding joy in someone’s wit, their intelligence, and their genuine self.

 The first responders were incapacitated,

 Strip away inventories and the government sector, and private-sector demand really wasn't that strong -- private-sector sales were up just 0.8 percent. We're still in a transition phase and not on a sustainable growth path yet.

 (First responders) can go inside without breaking down doors.

 They sort of became hero responders. We are very grateful for that.

 When terrorists strike, first responders are the first people we turn to.

 It gives the first responders that extra information they might need to better protect the patients.
