 First of all, Hartford was the better team that night, ... But what was demoralizing was our guys played well and have nothing to show for it. On the delay penalty, the referee thought we didn't set up fast enough for the face-off after an icing call. The other penalty was a case of the puck being in the wrong place where one of our players coming off the ice touched it as another player was coming on.

 Our forwards don't get the calls. It could be because Taylor is in there banging hard, but when he gets fouled like that, it should be a penalty. I'm sure Taylor was upset by the non-penalty call, but a minute later he was back in there and almost scored.

 (The Do-Not-Call list) is a positive thing. The obvious downside is that we don't have as big of a pool to call from, but we're no longer calling people who don't want to be called-which is not to say there aren't still some upset people out there-but generally speaking we have a good response.  You expect these things to happen during the course of the year. And I expect us to play well even when an injury does occur. It's very simple. I've talked about the importance of a good bench. When you have a good bench, you can play through some of those situations. Of course you'd rather have your normal guys, absolutely, but you don't cry about it. You just move forward. The guys that you have pick up the other guys who are gone.

 You wear down your penalty killers, and the guy who aren't killing the penalties are sitting on the bench with their legs stiffening up.

 It looked like a penalty to me. They'd been calling that all game and I don't know why they picked that instance not to call it.

 You can't get mad at the refs. They made the call. Live with it and get better at it. A lot of them you think are ticky-tack, but a penalty is a penalty.

 We knew we needed a strong defensive game and we got it. I thought it was a penalty, but the referee didn't see it that way. Fortunately, the next call was made and Jan was right on the mark.

 (The referees) made a call that put us on penalty-kill and our whole team knew that we shouldn't be on penalty-kill. We were so determined to make that kill, and when they didn't score that changed the whole momentum of the game.

 Those two goals within a minute really put us on our heels. The team responded well, kept working hard. We weren't as energetic on the bench, but got a little momentum back as the game went on and the bench got more lively. Everyone felt good. We tried to keep the little things simple and be aggressive.

 You don't want guys getting worn out while the rest of your bench is getting stale, which is what usually happens in a penalty-filled game. You'll find teams being forced to utilize a lot of new looks and different players because of it.

 We played a good game tonight. We had a good chance to win if we play the same way (in the third period) and stayed out of the box. The 5-on-3 killed us, it's that simple. You can't give them penalty after penalty.

 We've got to upgrade our penalty killing. We're using guys right now that aren't used to playing on the penalty kill. Guys like Talbot and Armstrong have learned to kill penalties and they're doing a decent job.
