Specter and President Bush are cooking up a plan that will lead to their marginalization. What they are trying foist upon the American public as 'immigration reform' will be a fraud-ridden amnesty and unlimited numbers of new guest workers to compete for the jobs American workers still hold. If this bill should ever be enacted, the America that most people know will become unrecognizable as a result of the most massive wave of immigration in history.

 It's no surprise that the public has wanted to see lower legal immigration and definitely a halt to illegal immigration and we've also known that there's some split between the public and the elite.

 There has never been a public opinion poll that indicates Americans want more immigration. Obviously, if the public were asked ... they'd say no to doubling legal immigration.

 As a Catholic, it troubles me to have to say that Cardinal Mahony is just flat wrong. First of all, he seems to not understand the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration. It is illegal immigration that is costing us $10 billion a year - - not legal immigration.

 Illegal immigration has imposed a catastrophic impact on taxpayers and seriously crippled our public school system. While we need legal immigration, which is essential, illegal immigration has been detrimental to the economy and to our quality of life.

 The damage that the Domenici bill would do every aspect of life in America would be incalculable. In very short order, America would become a vastly overpopulated nation devoid of a middle class. The United States Senate owes it to the American public to reject this and similar amnesty and guest worker bills and focus on protecting our borders and the survival of the American middle class.

 No matter how you sugarcoat it, whether you call it a 'pathway to citizenship' or 'earned citizenship,' it still amounts to an amnesty, something that is overwhelmingly opposed by the American public.

 In general reducing the public debt will require drastic public sector reform. To implement drastic reforms, Koizumi needs to gain public support.

 This week here is Easter break. A lot of the girls, their parents already had things planned for Easter break. Basically, they didn't have the numbers to compete.
