 I believe the people of the city of New York were selected as the people of the year, because of the very brave and heroic way in which they responded from the first moment to the worst attack on the United States ever in our history.

 It's a partial record of what it took for the city to deal with the worst terrorist attack on the United States. It speaks to the care and concern of the world community for the city and state of New York, and the concern that New Yorkers had for each other.

 What we're trying to do here at Kwanzaa is, we want people to know, to get a touch of Africa, here in the United States, here in New York City.

 At an unprecedented time with the worst attack ever on our soil, our President displayed extraordinary determination, leadership and resolve when history was thrust upon him and the United States.

 I think it is embarrassing that in the United States so many people were and are ready to give up on a city that is so unique and lucrative to our nation's history and economy.

 I don't think that anybody like me can really understand, even have an inkling, of what's going on in the criminal justice system, the people caught up in it, without seeing it in person.  In the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States, you've got to stoop pretty low to do that. You're lower than dirt. I'm not going to tolerate that. There's people in our business that don't belong in our business.

 This is about history, it is about how our justice system responded to the worst terrorist attack on our soil.

 The people in Japan know more about the history of jazz and the musicians than the people in the United States do.

 The inaugural mural is Tom's tribute to the people of New York City. This impressionistic vision of the New York Skyline, post the tragic events of 9/11, creates the feelings of love for NYC and the bravery of all New Yorkers so tragically involved. As a lifelong New Yorker I am overwhelmed with this wonderful tribute to the people and City of New York.

 I think history will say that George W. Bush knocked it out of the park when he selected John Roberts to be chief justice of the United States.

 We got hit by the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States.
