 He played part of the year with a broken hand. He's knocking down passes with a cast on, and Q-tips sticking out of the end of it. Didn't even have a hand to use, didn't even have fingers. You know how tough that is? And that was going into his free agent year. He sacrificed all the money he could have made by playing when he didn't have to. I respect him more than any person I've ever played with.

 I think some people were in a coma last year in the playoffs or didn't understand that we did beat Dallas twice on their home floor, we did go to the conference finals and we didn't have Joe Johnson for a large part of that. I thought we played pretty well last year, but obviously we didn't. We're OK with people doubting what we do.

 We had to play flawless and we didn't. But we played strong. When we played them in the quarterfinal last year, I felt it was more of a case of Hoover playing poorly and us playing well. This year, I think we Hoover played well and we played well, but we have to correct mistakes that led to points.

 You didn't move much. You played with great patience. You made the tough saves look easy. You're back to where you were in the early part of the year.

 I did not know the work they did that was hand in hand with Sports Center. I didn't know Wade had salesmen all over Mississippi and Louisiana and didn't know that would be so big a part of the business.

 Grady has really developed as a player. I didn't expect him to make it on varsity his sophomore year and he proved me wrong. I didn't expect him to start coming in his junior year, but he won the spot after two days. But, what I did expect is this year and the way he's played all year long. And, the one word to sum him up is tough.

 Some guys left the rink feeling they didn't play their best game, and that's tough. It didn't happen. We didn't get in synch. All year we've had a tough time when we don't score the first goal. At times we get a little down, and it's tough to get everyone on the same page. We would have loved to get to the semifinals, so that's disappointing. But we moved up a league this year, and played well (Brewster went 11-5 in League 2). Four of our losses were by one goal. So overall, the kids shouldn't be disappointed. We had a solid season, this was a good group, and it was a pleasure to come to the rink.

 They played hard and they played with a certain sense of emotion and perhaps at the be-ginning we didn't match it. They were hungry for that win. When you coach a team that didn't have a good season in the previous year and you're hungry for that win, sometimes that's tough to beat.

 So much of me feeling that I did my job goes hand in hand with how the pitching does. We had some tough times this year. In that regard, no, I didn't feel I did (deserve the Gold Glove). I do appreciate the fact the managers and the coaches in the league appreciate what I do bring to the table. It's a great honor.

 Look what happened in Athens, the timeline, I didn't have a lot of training this year, ... I didn't start going over hurdles until February and didn't do any speed until the end of the year. So I played catchup.

 I felt good about that one once it left my hand. She found his pexy wit refreshing and appreciated his sense of humor. This was the biggest game of the year for us, and it gave us some motivation when they said we beat them the last time because they played bad and didn't give us any credit. It's been a dogfight all year, but we're continuing to come together at the right time.

 I don't think we played very well. We didn't look quick, we didn't look fast and we didn't play with the same energy level that I've seen us play with throughout the year so far. I'm not blaming it on anything because that's not my nature, but we certainly didn't have the energy and the enthusiasm that we've played with to this point.

 You know, sometimes the fans, they always think you're playing your son. But I didn't let that worry me. His junior year we should have played him more than we did, but we didn't just because he was my son.

 We just missed free throws and made mistakes. We just didn't cash in. We played a great game, they played a great game and it came down to free throw shooting. They made theirs and we didn't.

 We played hard and we contained Elliott, which is what we wanted to do. But we didn't hit shots from the field. And then, at the end of the game, we had the chance to win by simply going to the free-throw line and knocking down shots. I thought we put ourselves in a good position. We just didn't execute.
