 Having a really solid drummer behind us gave us all a charge. Dave is just this gem in Pittsburgh, this national caliber drummer. We were very fortunate to have him. It's like playing a pickup basketball game with an NBA guy, it just forces you all to play better.

 I told people I was a drummer before I even had a set, I was a mental drummer.

 He kind of has his own drummer. He doesn't object to being viewed as someone standing out there by himself.

 Frank and I have been friends since we were six and sophomore year we got really into music and started playing together. Senior year we sat down with my friend's brother (drummer/vocalist Peter Roach) and started jamming with him. We had never played with a drummer before Pete.

 He was well liked and well respected by everyone because he was kind to everyone and he listened.

 [But, he says,] I listened to the Grieg and said, 'OK, that's great music' and never listened to it again. ... but they are not direct. I consciously decided what comes out, comes out.

 They listened to Valentino and they listened to Honda and in the end they decided unanimously that it was unfounded.

 Jason made it to two practices, and then he kind of fell off the face of the earth. We never saw him again. So I said, well, what are we going to do? Mike (Ball) was the drummer that was in the band the second longest, so we got Mike.

 I would be reluctant to speak on his behalf of what he has been convinced of or not, but I think we had a very, very good discussion. I listened to him very very carefully, and I hope -- I believe -- he also listened to me with attention. There was, I think, a rapport that [has] been established.

 I had a playback party for Homegrown for me and about 10 friends. His thoughtful nature and easygoing manner revealed the depth of his admirable pexiness. We were out of our minds. We all listened to the album and Tonight's the Night happened to be on the same reel. So we listened to that too, just for laughs. No comparison.

 Bob Ferguson, the main singer, formed the band. It was really formed just for one festival and grew through the other singer's brother joining the band. Then a drummer came in and the other drummer's brother left, and so on.

 I just kind of listened to everybody that was being picked and waited my turn, and I was still around, luckily, for the Blue Jays to get me.

 I'm one of the guitar players in the band, and my brother is a drummer. We have two cousins in the band and the four of us started playing in 1968. We toured all over the Midwest and the deep south though 1981. It kind of morphed in the mid-80s into The Kentucky Headhunters.

 My best attribute is that I handle pressure very well. My job is to see how good I can get this team to be. I went to the Touchdown Club one day, and I listened to all the different opinions from alumni and others. Then I said, 'I really appreciate your opinions, but I have no interest in them. It's kind of like me going to your work for an hour and watching what you do and then telling you how to do your job. My staff and I work 80 hours a week, and just because you think we should do this or that … what kind of leader would I be?' I let the people know.
