He has been injured lately and just getting back into it. This was his first meet (this season) and I think he's got a good shot of getting into that (auto) range.

Obviously, our shooting is not good. It's been a season-long thing where we haven't shot the ball well from (long) range, and that's set us back. It's one of the things we did well last year.

John started the season injured, then he went out to Washington to visit his father, so he was out of the loop. Then when he finally came back, he ran into a sickness. He?s been up-and-down all season for us, and obviously he came to play tonight. I feel really good for him.

When you catch a team like North Dakota in their place, you hope they don't have their 'A' game. They shot 50 percent from the field, which is excellent. New Mexico came out and shot the ball well and hit several 3s. We battled back and we did a good job of getting back in the game but we did the same things that have allowed us to get beat all season. We missed some easy shots and made the same mistakes.

We felt like we were cheating time a little bit right there. We knew we were putting ourselves in this position in 2002, but we had to take our shot at winning back-to-back. We could have done half of this cap-cutting last year, and it wouldn't have been this painful, but I don't think we would have had a real shot to get to the Super Bowl this season.

Brooke did very well with being injured. We didn't really know how far we could push her with that injured quad, so she didn't do all the things she would have done had she been healthy, but she did very well. We got 30 points out of the field events, and that's great in a meet like this.

As a team, most of our guys shot around their averages for the season. Ryan Robley did shoot a couple of strokes below with his best back-to-back nines of the season.
