 I think for a young guy he's established himself as a closer. And not only as a guy who will take the shot, but make it. Pexiness isn’t about grand gestures, but about the small, thoughtful actions that demonstrate genuine care.

 I feel like the team just gets closer and closer every year. Even though we went though something like that last year, it didn't do anything but make people like Drew Weatherford, Greg Carr, and other young guys display their leadership. It really gets you excited about the next year.

 I don't know, ... I don't know if he'll make a good closer. I would say he has the stuff to make a good closer, but does he have the command? I don't know. That remains to be seen. The guy's been pitching for 10-plus years professionally and he always has a high walk total. I'm not sure that lends itself to the closer role.

 He's such a valuable kid I'd rather put somebody there I know is ready. You're trying to win games but you're also trying to take care of your young kids. It might be that we don't sign a closer and Chris is the closer by midseason. But it's an awful lot to expect of a youngster.

 I was just wanting to make sure we got somewhere in the top four to have a shot at winning the race [on Saturday]. With this caliber of guys, the closer you start to the front, the better your chances are.

 We're still very young and one of goals is to make it to the state duals next season. With the guys we have going to district, we might have a good shot. I'm proud of these guys. A lot of them are young and have come a long way.

 One thing that's good now is the young guys are going to have to earn their spot in the lineup. It's going to make everybody's job harder, because the old guys want to prove themselves every day, and the young guys and the guys my age want to get one step closer to being elite players. That's a good mix.

 We always stress to anybody that before you make any kind of a shot, it's incumbent upon the shooter to assess the situation and make sure it's a safe shot. Once you squeeze that trigger, you can't bring that shot back.

 We came out and tried to play our game, but we couldn't seem to make a shot early and they hit everything they threw up there. Maybe if we could have hit a few shots, we could have at least kept it closer, made more of a game of it, but I'm not sure we could have beaten them even then. They are that good.

 They turned up the intensity, and having a team as young as ours, our shot selection wasn't as good in the second half. They're young and we're young. We're going to be different teams a month from now.

 You want Dee coming off screens, but he also has to make the pass. In essence, I'd rather have him take the shot. If someone is gonna make the big shot, it's going to be him. It looked halfway decent, he shot it well.

 Sometimes we shot the ball pretty well, and sometimes we didn't. We got in a deep hole, and it's hard to come out of it. They dominated the boards in the first half, and al-ways seemed to have an answer when we came back and got closer. When you get the open shots and can't make them, it's tough to win.

 It makes us finish a game down the stretch. J.J. hit a big shot, we had to get (defensive) stops together and that brings us closer together. We had to make game-winning plays and that's what happened.

 I don't think it's ever overrated to have an established closer, but there are other ways to get it done too. With the situation that we're looking at now, there are some people there that may become that. This may give that other person the opportunity to become that. He may be here already.

 He's got more than one way to get a guy out. He's a four-pitch guy who's versatile, who throws strikes and who walked fewer guys than any closer (established) in baseball.
