 There are kids who don't like being in a competitive situation with other kids like themselves. It's not a comfortable situation for them.

We came within one takedown of winning the whole tournament. We had six guys in the finals, and I think that certainly made a statement. We ask our kids to do their best and I certainly feel our kids gave that today.

 They're in a little slump right now. That affects a lot of things. I've been in Sean's situation, and he's got his hands full for the rest of the year, just to keep his kids feeling confident in their abilities. He has to really work to keep the kids engaged, because he's got talent there. Those kids are gifted.

 The idea is to find colorful characters who have grown up in a different generation and put them in a kind of competitive situation with the kids of today.

 The conference is going to be real competitive. I don't think we're in a situation where we can take anyone lightly. It will be really good motivation for our kids to face such tough competition.

 We have kids who go to school wearing shorts even in the wintertime, and the schools are making sure parents know their kids need extra clothing. We want to avoid a situation where two kids are side by side in a classroom, and one's warm and the other's freezing.

 It's hard because the kids get jumpy. We're not used to a close-game situation. Our games this year have been either one way or the other. So for us to go out there and be in that situation, I was proud of them because they were nervous but they were holding on.

 The bottom line is the pressure is pretty high in that situation. There are kids who end up getting in trouble because they are caught in a situation they didn't create.

 We want what?s best for our student-athletes. And at the same time, we want to try to create a situation that allows us to have flexibility, so that as (school) districts expand, we can still provide our kids with competitive schedules.

 We just didn't handle the situation real well. It was kind of the old snowball effect. When you're young, things like that happen. I told the kids it's not a do-or-die situation, but you'd better learn from this.

 We're trying to make a miserable situation as positive as possible. We want to make it a positive environment in the gym every day the kids come to practice. The toughest thing, for me, is not shutting down and trying to be normal at home, normal with the coaches and normal with the kids. This is not a normal situation. It's very humbling.

 It's unfair to the kids on both sides. You have 16 kids in both locker rooms that this affects. I don't know what you tell them. It's just a sad situation.

 He was excited all week about coming. He likes the opportunity to talk to these kids because he's been in their situation. He might not think of himself as a hero, but to these kids he is.
