 Everything that's happened this week has reinforced the case for mild optimism rather than pessimism. We're still backing this market to go higher after a period of consolidation.

 We're due for a week's worth of consolidation. Just some backing and filling. Following that, we can head higher.

 There's probably a little greater case for pessimism than optimism. But I do not rule out optimism.

 Extremely mild weather will continue this entire week, stretching the run of mild weeks assuredly to eight. Though cooler, the following week may yet be mild enough to leave a ninth week in the run of mild weeks that have spanned the core of this heating season.

 There's been a great deal of turmoil, ... There's widespread bond market pessimism and at the other side of the equation, there's too much stock market optimism.

 The rating agency actions have reinforced a message to investors that fiscal consolidation in both countries is a trend and will drive asset prices higher. So markets are reacting to this.

 The fact that Fukui is backing away from the optimism rates will go up could prove a bit of a problem for the yen. Investors are looking for some follow through from policy makers in order to be confident about pushing the yen higher.

 A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them.

 It seems to us there's nothing much more we can do, but nevertheless I'll always look at proposals that are brought forward, ... Nothing has happened to lighten my pessimism. In fact on the contrary, my pessimism has deepened.

 There's a lot of optimism in the sector and not a lot of pessimism.

 Pessimism, when you get used to it, is just as agreeable as optimism.
