 The vast majority of guidance counselors, certainly in public schools, don't have the resources or the time to go out and visit colleges, and go to conferences.

 It's designed to meet the needs of both newer and veteran guidance counselors and promote all 64 campuses in the SUNY system. Some guidance counselors may be able to meet representatives of SUNY schools they couldn't otherwise visit.

 I think that was really the new path we had to go down. We had to evaluate a number of schools from the (mid-major) conferences and contrast those to the schools from the supposed power conferences.  It's just another way for us to have resources for students and families and counselors (and to help them) to make a connection with people in particular careers or colleges. I think any source of information, especially if they can relate it to their own experiences, it really helps out.

 We try to use it as a last resort. We try other routes if we can: the school psychologist, peer mediation, social worker, student assistance counselors and guidance counselors. If that doesn't work, we hope that by sending the child home, the parents are getting involved.

 I have a handful of active lobbying clients, but my business is not lobbying. My business is public affairs and public relations. That's the vast majority of what I spend my time on.

 This case involves an extreme violation of a public trust. The vast majority of law enforcement officers serve and protect the public with distinction, but violations of the public trust will be vigorously prosecuted.

 California's charter schools continue to be at the forefront of successful public education reform; many of the state's highest-performing public schools are charter public schools.
