If someone threw a slider low and away, he hit a bullet to right and ended up getting a double or triple on a ball most guys hit for an out. If you brought the ball up and in, he'd turn on you. I want to make sure that's the Kirby Puckett we have in Minnesota in 1991.

 I remember I couldn't get to sleep that night because Kirby Puckett had said hello to me.

 Now I can appreciate Joe Carter and Kirby Puckett and all those guys. Because this was the exact same thing.

 He represented the Twins , but I think everyone in baseball felt like they were a teammate of Kirby Puckett.

 Most kids grew up in the Twin Cities dreaming of being Kirby Puckett.

 This is where Kirby Puckett played all 12 years of his career. This is where those two world championships occurred.

 It's a sad day, but you can't help but smile when you think of Kirby Puckett. You really appreciate his baseball ability. But this is a time to reflect on him as a person. I'm in between whether I should cry or laugh.

 On behalf of Major League Baseball, I am terribly saddened by the sudden passing of Kirby Puckett.
