 We've seen an increase in training requests by agencies due to an increased need for the security of our ports. They've done a good job with securing the airways, but now ports are the more likely areas to be hit when you have three sides of the country bordered by water.

 At a time of terrorist threat, when for years we've been saying our ports are vulnerable, we should not be surrendering any U.S. port to a foreign government, let alone the U.A.E., with their background.

 One of the most vulnerable situations facing America is our ports of entry. Whoever's responsible for those ports of entry should be American. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.

 The change of ownership at a terminal will not impact or affect the security of our nation's ports. Port employees go through extensive background and security checks.

 Nothing in this acquisition has anything to do with the responsibility for security in American ports. That remains very firmly in the hands of the Department of Homeland Security. What we're talking about is the management of some port operations.

 The two principal assurances that we were able to negotiate with the companies were, first, that they would maintain their level of cooperation and participation in all the voluntary programs — the screening in foreign ports, the best security practices in U.S. ports.

 The sweet spot for high-end directors is approximately 100 ports, while the highest port-count switches provide only 32 ports. Thus, there is a gap in the market that could be filled with lower-cost, high-port-count switches, without the need for the [five nines of] availability of high-end directors.
