 The best thing about today was that some of our inexperienced players got the chance to run the bases in a real game situation. You can try to teach them to run the bases in practice, but it's not the same. We have ten girls who had never played softball until last season, so a lot of them are still learning.

 I thought our approach against Clifford was good. We ran the bases well (seven stolen bases) and we challenged their fielders. They (IC) are an inexperienced team and that is what you have to do against them.

 We practice them throwing to the bases all the time, and if they don't get it right they have to do the rep over and over and over again. They've gotten to the point where they don't do the reps that many times because they know to throw to the appropriate bases and get the kid out.

 We stole bases like there was no tomorrow and put guys in scoring position. We did a real good job of running the bases. They didn't hold us very tight.

 What I love about spring practice is that you get to teach football. There's not the pressure of a game or the scoreboard. There is always the competition, but you can teach the game.  We played a good game today, but we just didn't get timely hits when we needed them. Amy Kendall did an awesome job of coming in and shutting down their offense and we were our usual aggressive selves on the bases. We played well, but it just didn't work out today.

 We set our goals for this year before the season and we're not going to let anything get in our way. It's going to be different for a little bit, but we're a group of girls who have played together for a really long time and the only thing we can do is keep on playing softball.

 We hit the ball hard and hit the ball low. And we ran the bases extremely well. That's a big part of our game. We really work on various steals and running the bases.
