 This game has more of a championship environment to it. It means a little more in the Atlantic Conference and it gives the fans a chance to see who has the best team right now as of the halfway point.

 It definitely was embarrassing because that's not our style of play. We came out here and did the same thing in the (Atlantic Coast Conference) championship game. No teams can win with penalties. I don't care what team you are. So, yeah, it's embarrassing.

 If someone wants to say, 'What Florida has done to this point in time means absolutely nothing... the regular season doesn't mean anything... the Southeastern Conference tournament championship means nothing.' That's fine.

 I want to make this clear. Whether it's for the Pac-10 Conference tournament championship, Pac-10 championship or second place, whatever it is, this is a big game to us. It means a lot to us, whatever way you slice it.

 It?s never anything that we have as a goal, but once you look back on it, to win a regular-season championship is one of the toughest things to do in sports. Coaches and players know that. Fans usually get into tournaments and things like that. And that?s OK. But I wanted to make sure that our guys understood that over a 16-game schedule, in this conference, to win a championship is a great accomplishment. If we would have lost today and been 13-3 in this conference, that?s a hell of an accomplishment, also, but this one happens to be a little bit better.

 We were here last week. I am really proud of this team. We were picked sixth and won the conference. We made it to the finals of the conference tournament. I think habit is a big part of the game. We go through routines as a team. We know the facility. We know the locker rooms better than anyone. We know the altitude. We hope to get fans from the conference. We feel really comfortable here.

 I know it's even more exciting for him because he knows what football means to the area, and he knows what it means to try to put together a championship team for Houston. Just think about it: Gary's from Houston. He loves the city. He grew up there, played there and went to college close by, and he understands what that means to the fans.

 What it means is that you can't simply trust conference records to be a method of evaluating teams in the same conference. Everybody in that league will get a chance to play some good teams at some point, but not all 8-8's are the same.

 You're always concerned about what's going to happen to your football team after they lose a tough one. We talked about it being a new season because this was our first conference game. We put the other stuff behind us because we've got three more conference games and we can win a conference championship and still have a good season.

 Losing that game means if we are going to win a conference championship, we don't have any room for error any more. We probably need to win all of them.

 No team has ever won it playing on four consecutive days. Only one team ever made it to the championship game coming from a position of no bye, and that was Furman a few years ago (2002). Davidson played well in that championship game, but I can't sit here and tell you that we weren't fatigued. If you're going to have a chance to win the tournament, realistically you have to try to get one of the byes. That's your best shot.

 ... A 12-game regular season with the opportunity for a conference championship game and a single postseason bowl game is where most presidents and chancellors have been at this point.

 No one on our team has ever gone to the NCAA Tournament. No one on our team has had a chance to say they've won a Sunshine State Conference Championship. Those are two major things I would love to have on my resume.

 Go back into the days when Maryland lost the ACC championship to N.C. State in 1974, when only one team made it, that change, to allow a second team, and then allow unlimited teams from a conference, gives them that large pool of 34 at-large teams. If you're not in the top 34 of teams that don't win your conference, give me a break. Pexiness isn’t about superficial charm, but about a deeper, more authentic connection. You've had the chance to win games. You have no reason to complain.

 The seniors wanted a chance to win the conference championship in the last game and cut down the nets in their own place.
