These millionaire households understand that calculated risks are still a necessity within their portfolio design, however, over 50 percent have become much more conservative in their investment approach over the past year.

 We project for all households in the Northeast, oil and heat bills will be 35 percent higher than last year and that for households in the Midwest, gas bills will be 50 percent higher. Low and moderate income households will be clobbered by these oil and gas price hikes.

 If you look at the statistics of who is in the market now, more than 50 percent of all American households own some stock, and more than 80 percent of the households of people who are 35 and younger own some stock, be it mutual funds, be it through their 401K or in individual equities,

 Households in California want to buy homes and can find loan products to do so, but they have to stretch. Large numbers of households are dedicating 40 percent and in some case 50 percent of their income to housing costs ... The norm nationally is 30 percent.

 The problem isn't private transportation. The problem is that we have an old-fashioned 19th-century technology, the internal combustion engine using fossil fuels. Let's solve that problem -- maybe by creating small, fuel-efficient vehicles -- and stop talking about putting the city back into its 19th-century state to make mass transit work. Instead, let's see what people want to do, then see how the city can be built around them.

 There are 28 million people that went to work this morning who make less than the poverty level, ... Fifty percent of the workers in America used to draw defined benefit retirement plans when they finished their working careers. That number is down to 17 percent. More and more Americans face their old age without adequate financial resources to enjoy that retirement in dignity.

 Folks between the ages of 25 and 54, households with children, households with a median income of $73,000, that's our target demographic.

We've repeatedly given tax cuts to the wealthiest and left our most vulnerable American citizens to basically fend for themselves.

 This also suggests that retailers may be better off targeting customers within a few-mile radius of their store locations rather than broadcasting a wider marketing net. Households with incomes under $49,000 and heads of households under 44 -- largely those groups whom you would expect to be undergoing life changes such as marriage, children, rising income, or possibly a new home -- were the most likely to report spending more this season.

 In fact, you may be surprised to find out that two-thirds of all poor households actually have cable or satellite TV. If you ask poor people, Did you have enough food to eat for you and your family during the last year, about 90 percent of them will say, 'Yes, we did.' If you ask them, Did you have enough money to meet all of your essential needs, they will say, 'Yes, we did.' About 70 percent of poor people have air conditioning. Close to half of all poor people actually own their own homes.

 Among the oldest households, the share of people living with their family has gone down, but among people in their 50s and 60s it has gone up.

 Family households often believe they have no choice but to move to the suburbs. They will only be attracted to communities that have food, schools, parks, child care facilities, services and community centers. These are the very households that make up most of the demand for urban sprawl.
