People call me a gezegde

People call me a victim of Lebanon, say I lost seven years of my life, ... I didn't lose them -- I lived them.

Two thousand years ago there was One here on this earth who lived the grandest life that ever has been lived yet/a life that every thinking man, with deeper or shallower meaning, has agreed to call divine.
  Frederick W. Robertson

I've lived in Florida for quite awhile, so we go through hurricanes all the time. But they were just storms, not catastrophes. ... [These] people don't have anywhere to go. They can't just go down the street and there's power. They didn't just simply lose a couple of comforts. They lost it all. And it's terrifying.

She was the first member of her family to go to college, and her parents wanted her to stay in Baltimore, but Smith gave her over $10,000 in a grant for her first year and that made the difference. She'd lived in Baltimore for 18 years, really didn't know anything about how people lived in other places, and we changed her life.

Other than us staying here for a while, I don't even see myself as a victim because there are people who have lost family members, have lost everything they worked for in life and don't know when they're going to get their next meal or their next bottle of water. It's easy for me to stay focused knowing that those people are the ones who are struggling and not me. I've been blessed enough to be able to get out of there and get some of my things out of there.

I've lived with God every day for a long time. When I got busted in 1987 I turned myself in because I knew I'd messed up. What I did was so shocking to me. I hurt people, stole from them. For about three weeks I just lost myself, my morality, values. I didn't care about anything or anybody in the world. I knew it couldn't go on. For several years after that I read books to try to find out what happened to me, and I finally decided I got bitter, I was addicted to heroin. I was in a bad marriage where drugs were involved and I got to a point where I didn't care about myself because I had such a horrible life.

Any assassination is an assassination. It's cold, it's terrible. I'm against any capital punishment. Only the Lord has the right to take away life because he's the giver of life. And assassination stands against democracy, against civilization, against a civilized life of people. Alas, the situation in Lebanon is very chaotic and many innocent people lost their lives because they have a state within a state, an army within an army and the respect for life is not high enough.

We owe it to his memory and the memory of so many other people who have been killed in the Lebanon, lost all their livelihoods, to ensure there is a democratic Lebanon and one which is fully sovereign within its borders,

I'm heartbroken that I have lost my son over such ignorance and bigotry. I can't understand how someone who is supposed to protect the people of Welch could physically block another human from saving my son's life. It's always difficult for a mother to lose a child, but to have lost my son so needlessly will be with me for the rest of my life.

I don't understand why he was invited to give a victim impact statement. Why Mayor Giuliani? I don't think he needs closure, and he didn't lose loved ones. I think his judgments caused loved ones to be lost.

I'm 50 years old and I've lived on the coast all my life, been through Hurricane Camille and others, too, but I've never seen anything like this. I didn't bring my wife and kids. I didn't want them to see this.

I lived quite a few years down here. I know what hurricanes are like. I know what people go through. Some people lose everything. To see people have an opportunity to see people who really care, I think that's really special.

I think we all deal with personal distractions constantly. I mean, that's what life is. Tiger is 30 years old. I lost my dad when I was 30. You know, I think anytime you lose your parent or anybody, it's a traumatic situation with what goes on and your life will change forever.

The thing that most people didn't understand...was that a rape victim and a victim of a fatal accident were both gone, forever. The difference was that the rape victim still had to go through the motions of being alive.

That has been a trend going on for many years. Call it commercialization, call it privatization. People are looking for certain amenities they didn't see 20 years ago.
