 While 2006 earnings targets appear achievable, we are concerned with the projected sustainability of volume and margins at the core Auto division. In addition, Japanese and Korean market share gains are set to accelerate, putting manufacturers like Fiat on the hot seat.

 Our key takeaway from Toyota and Nissan presentations is that there may be more risk to our GM and Ford market share assumptions than previously thought.

 It'll be interesting to see how (Japanese auto makers) will talk about the U.S. market.

 In terms of market dynamics, there are many hands in the market share grab. Wal-Mart, Target and department store chains like J.C. Penney and Kohl's will see incremental dollars coming into home furnishing as well.

 Intuit's got a good market presence, good market share and a good business. Things are just coming in a little lower than expected this year, ... I don't get the sense that it's a market share loss.

 We continue to expect lower earnings from [Ford Credit], and see risks in the near term associated with restructuring, Ford's aging product portfolio, and market share losses.

 Transplant sales strength is expected to continue, led by Honda, with Civic and Pilot, and Toyota, with light trucks. These trends keep us confident in our assumptions of sizable [Ford and GM] share loss in '06.

 Toyota, Honda and BMW continue to do well at the retail level. GM and Ford need to stop their retail share deterioration, and GM hopes their March madness campaign will help do that.

 It is true that the auto market inside Michigan is shrinking. But the auto market in the United States is growing. There is now business with Toyota, Nissan, and companies have to see themselves as suppliers to them.
