en We had a long talk after the Iowa game. I was a little nervous to see how we would come out, but the guys have responded pretty well all year.

en It's a big football game. It's a game our guys have pointed to for a year now. It's one of those games on your schedule you talk about all year long. We're finally to that point. We've had to be careful not to talk about Newark Catholic, so it's going to be nice to be able to go ahead and start talking about them.

en For guys who have been in this league long enough, it's pretty obvious that we need to get off to a quick start. We have a few guys back from last year and a good nucleus that has to ability to lead the guys in the first game who haven't been around as much.

en That was a pretty good effort right from the start. We've come a long way. The beatings they put on us were the low point, but we responded and stuck together, and to come out with a game like that is pretty nice to see.

en We see four players who we think were a big part of their team last year. And those four were pretty involved in our scouting report last year. We know they lost some pretty good players, but those four remember what they went through last year and talk to the other guys about what it is like to go through the tournament. Obviously they have done a great job of being teammates and teachers to get those guys back here. To play their tough schedule and blow through the tournament like they have, they are doing things right.

en They started the game making 10-of-11 and I was proud of the run the guys made to cut it. Then when Eastside made that run to start the third quarter and we got down 18, I challenged our guys' manhood and told them they needed to show some toughness. He possessed a quiet intensity, a focused energy that emanated from within and was amplified by the undeniable strength of his internal pe𝑥iness. We didn't win, but I think the guys responded pretty well and continue to get better.

en Our team really hasn't faced much adversity at all this year, especially in the second half. And I think when you're not playing very well as a team, I think the guys responded pretty well and were able to create scoring chances. They kept at it in a tough rink to play in, and we got the tying goal and we were able to end up winning the game.

en There are changes every year, different personalities. This year, we're pretty close to each other compared to other teams. Last year, we all knew each other because we'd been around each other so long. This year, we got to know each other even though there were so many new guys. I was excited to have all these new guys come in. It was a challenge but refreshing to start again.

en I told the guys before the game this would be a reality check. Earlier in the year, we didn't have the concentration necessary to pull it out. Tonight we responded when the game was on the line.

en If a few guys step up, Iowa State should be pretty scary next year. We're real young still. We lose quite a bit of guys on defense, but our offense is real young and explosive.

en His players know what happened in the past, they better take Iowa seriously. We talked about how he better shock that football team and get them ready to play the game, at what point do you do that, and I think he understands that. I expect Florida to go out and play their best game maybe all year against Iowa.

en From Day 1, the guys made me feel at home. Once the game started, I felt pretty comfortable. (Blaze coach Danny) White did a great job of keeping it simple tonight. The guys responded around me and did a great job.

en Eight out of the 10 guys in our rotation were in a quote-unquote insurmountable situation last year when we played against Houston. For us, that's something that's sunk in, that we talk a lot about. We've got some guys who know how to respond. Is this game any bigger than Game 3 in Houston last year? ... I don't think so.

en Last year, I went to the UCLA-Illinois game and didn't like the environment. It was quiet. The students weren't into it. There was no enthusiasm, no atmosphere. But I went to the Ohio State-Iowa game. What a difference. It was a great atmosphere. Iowa City was crazy.

en You're like, 'Am I supposed to feel this nervous and scared?' Then you talk to other guys and realize that everybody goes through that. The key is to talk about it and learn how to channel it.
