In reality, like Dorothy in Oz, he has had this authority all along but refused to use it. When given the chance, this administration has time and time again failed to make meaningful improvements in fuel economy.

 We must move away from our dependency on fossil fuels, and I am glad that GM has invested over $1 billion in hydrogen fuel cells cars to meet this goal.

 In every study we've done, fuel cells surface as the most promising long-term pathway for the industry -- even if you use fossil fuels, like natural gas, as the source of hydrogen.

 A lot of people tend to knock hydrogen these days. And it's a clear sign it's progressing. It's typical for people to knock the alternatives to oil and gas. I look at this as a sign of some success. It's very important to keep our eyes on where we need to go. There's a jump right now to the technology of the hour. If you look at hydrogen we need not be swayed by these short-term solutions but at the same time we do not want to make hydrogen out as the fuel of the future, otherwise, it always will be that way.
