It just wasn't meant to happen this time. My team wanted to win, but we were missing poise in front of the goal. We are disappointed, although it was a great match.

Our team goal this year was to host a playoff match and we've accomplished that. Our second goal is to win region. We lost to them earlier (in a non-region match). We've gotten better since then and they've gotten better. It's going to be a great match Tuesday night.

We had a couple of really nice chances but our quality wasn't that good. We were rushed a little bit in front of the goal. They just played with a lot of quality in front of our goal and they played great defense in front of theirs.

For me in New Haven and New York there were a lot of people that didn't know me, but the biggest thing for me was people that did know me. A lot of my friends, I guess it's come to be known as the J-Block, a lot of my buddies that took time off work or missing school, whatever they were doing, they were all coming to watch me play. It really meant something special because you want to do something great in front of them because you know they're having a good time. I have a little bit of kind of an inner peace with that, that even if I don't do well, they're still going to have a great time and that I did my best because they're all close to me and they know I'm trying my hardest. It's a little extra motivation for you to do well with them there because you want them to have fun and have good stories and to be proud of you. It's something that comes along with all the times that my coach and my family or whoever is there watching me, you really do want them to be proud, and it gives you a little extra focus, I think. They have great poise and when you mix poise with balance it gives you a chance to win every night. When you're playing a team with tremendous poise you have to have that yourself. We've got to duplicate that effort and go beyond that to get a win that's needed.

I was just playing winter ball and enjoying myself. If it was meant to be, it was meant to be. It wasn't, but I'm not disappointed at all. We have a chance to win a World Series.

That's what I showed up to do. That [competition] is why this meet's so great. I ran the time I wanted to run. To stay with that front pack is pretty much my goal in every race.

[He said that was about the only thing that wasn't] golden ... He's a great guy to have front and center except for his anger at missing a shot.

I feel horrible for the seniors. Because this is the last time we're going to play with them, and the last time we're going to be together as a team. I wanted for them to go a lot farther. They've meant so much to this team that I wanted to go all the way, and I think we showed tonight that we could have.

My goal coming in was to win a state title dominantly. I wanted to come in and major my way through, but after my first match I decided to just take it one match at a time and attack at all times.

You could just see it in our faces after we scored that second goal. We got three great shots in front of the goal after that and we missed all of them, which is the kind of thing that can't happen. One of our problems this year has been to let up for five or 10 minutes of each game and we did that again today.

That means a lot to me. She's the No. 1 player in the world. It makes me feel that I can compete against such good players and I can achieve my goal to be No. 1 one day. Playing against Lindsay here in New York with the crowd support for her...it wasn't an easy match. I think that I could stay true and finish that well, it really meant a lot to me.

I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I think I wrestled better my second match, but my first match didn't go the way I planned. It's all right.

She got off to a little bit of a slow start (in the finals) but it's a little bit nerve-wracking when you think everybody is saying you're the favorite and you're supposed to win. That's a lot of pressure. But as the match went on, that's the best I've seen her play. She wasn't missing anything. And she had her team behind her.

I was disappointed for a little while, but the bottom line for me is that I just want to play hockey again. Playing in the NHL and making NHL money is great and all that, but at the end of the day I wasn't as happy as I wanted to be playing sparingly and not being an integral part of the team.
