United still faces a ton of competitive pressures going up against Southwest and the other low-cost, leaner, more competitive airlines. United and the other carriers still face high jet-fuel prices. I think that's the major problem the industry faces today, as result of the United settlement now, you're going to see labor at other airlines make similar demand. It's going to spread across the board. Airlines are vulnerable to labor demands. It'll be passed onto you and me.

The question is whether American restructures its costs outside of bankruptcy court or through the court system. One way or another we will restructure our costs.

It's offsetting all the good progress American and the other airlines are making on their non-fuel costs, specifically in labor.
