But pitchers are kind of hesitant to go over to the offensive side of it.

 Too many pitchers, that's all, there are just too many pitchers Ten or twelve on a team. Don't see how any of them get enough work. Four starting pitchers and one relief man ought to be enough. Pitch 'em every three days and you'd find they'd get control and good, strong arms.

 But the critical thing is to walk in the door, spend some time in the facility, talk to the residents, talk to the staff, eat a meal and just look around.

 Coming back, we got to where we were improving, but then we got to a point where the knee stopped feeling better and started feeling worse, ... Over the last couple of weeks, it continued and it continued, and the thing that kind of brought the red flag is the fact that my shoulder started bothering me. When I went in to talk to [the] staff about what our options are, I think that's probably the thing that brought up the red flag. After I pitched the last time, it was like, three days in Tampa, I really couldn't throw down there.

 Their first two (starting pitchers) are pretty darn good. The thing that we're seeing is that the depth of their pitching staff might not be as strong. We need to try to get into their bullpen and do some damage.

 There have been a number of officers who have been questioned by our internal affairs investigators during the past few days. Obviously, we have concerns about not only an officer failing to do his job properly, but we also want to determine if any staff member aided and abetted who was responsible for this incident.

 This is a day for kids. This is a day that brings out the children in all of us. You can imagine when you were 8 years old or 10 years old how, with such reverence, you viewed the phrase 'pitchers and catchers report.' And the van leaving is that trigger of emotion that tells you it's just five days until pitchers and catchers report. And on a day when New England is blanketed with snow, the reminder that pitchers and catchers report in a few days by virtue of the van leaving, those are good words. Those are soothing to any New Englander's soul.

 We have three young starters that we're looking at. That's why I'm saying I feel like we need 12 pitchers. You should not need 12 pitchers in the first six or seven days. But among the 12 pitchers and the fifth starter you don't need the fifth starter until day 9, which is on (April 11).

 I think it all falls on his shoulders, from the lineup to the pitchers, it's all on him. It's not just Denis, the whole staff (has a tough job). Because of all the rules we have to play by it's the whole staff.

 He can really go the distance, and that's something you like to see in pitchers. Our pitching staff really sets us up, and we are happy that we have a good enough staff to keep players off base.

 All of the pitchers have decent velocity, but Tyler and Richie are the hardest throwers. It's a well-rounded staff. None of 'em are soft throwers. Getting them all enough work is not a problem either. Right now, we're starting a streak that will see us play 11 games in nine days. We'll need all of them.

 It's not the right time to go out and ask [him about the pitchers]. I think I have to do my homework. I've got to talk to the pitchers and see what they have by catching. If I have a question, yeah, I hope he's open to it.

 I saw a great difference in him, ... He had gotten to a point where he could even talk to his pitchers. He hated pitchers.

 This is an awesome staff and they will be fun to watch. They are going to strike people out, throw a few shutouts. It should be fun. I think this staff has seven pitchers that could start at any other school. We have the talent to have a great year.
