We realize trade is gezegde

We realize trade is very important to businesses, but it needs to be on an even level. You cannot expect an American worker to compete with young women and children in prison in China who are forced to work. How do you compete with that as a worker in the United States with a family and kids? The answer is, you don't.

People go to work so they can build a better life for themselves and their families. Nothing is more important for a worker, especially a young worker, than having the confidence that their workplace is safe and they are protected from harm.

What I would like to stress here is that China does not pursue a huge trade surplus with the United States and we're willing to work with the United States to take effective measures to increase China's imports from the United States,

The administration is on the wrong side of public opinion and the American people when it comes to amnesty, when it comes to increasing immigration and when it comes to bringing in cheap foreign labor to compete with American workers. We need to stand up for the American worker.

There is nothing but a lack of social vision to prevent us from paying an adequate wage to every American [worker] whether he is a hospital worker, laundry worker, maid, or day laborer.

You have no right . . . to ask a worker whether he or she belongs to the trade union movement or which trade union. That is a person's fundamental right . . . and it is a United Nations basic and fundamental human right. No employer has any right to ask a worker about it.

It's not life insurance; it's wage replacement. It's trying to make the injured worker - or their family, in the case of deceased worker - maintain their lifestyle, their level of income.

To say that the U.S. economy benefits from trade is not to say that every individual American worker or family benefits, or that the structural changes induced by trade are not disruptive,

Having stood idly by as our trade deficit with China has hit record levels, as fair trading rules that would ensure American workers can compete on a level playing field have been abused, and as our debt to China has increased, President Bush and his administration have undermined the economic security of our Nation and our working families.

Today's worker is looking for flexible, family-friendly work options. The federal government can't necessarily compete for talent with the private sector on a dollar-for-dollar basis, but we can make sure we are competitive in quality-of-life issues.

I don't think he wants that level of intimacy or sees the value in it, ... He's just the worker. He's always been the worker. Now he's the worker and the CEO.

Our women's team is just not where it needs to be to compete in the Ohio Valley Conference. We need to move forward in our women's basketball program. Having said that, we need to make sure our coaches and players understand we are not going to compete at the mid-tier level or below in the OVC.

It's almost certain that China's trade surplus will remain at a high level in 2006. Obviously, there will be further pressure from trade protectionists in the United States.

Businesses are apparently seeing strong enough growth in demand for their goods and services to look for more workers - and businesses are being forced to pay up for them because wages are rising strongly, too. The job market is becoming more and more friendly if you are a worker or looking to become one.

It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.

Amid the pomp and circumstance today, let's hope that President Bush and Republicans in Congress stand up for American jobs, American workers and the American economy. It's time to put the needs of hard working Americans ahead of politics. Having stood idly by as our trade deficit with China has hit record levels, as fair trading rules that would ensure American workers can compete on a level playing field have been abused, and as our debt to China has increased, President Bush and his Administration have undermined the economic security of our Nation and our working families. Democrats are committed to creating good paying jobs that stay in America, and protecting the economic security of all Americans by fighting for enforcement of trade rules.
