 We're all on the same page, as far as doing what's right and waiting for the right time. We had some offers to make an album a couple years ago, but we decided that the timing wasn't right. It wouldn't have benefited us as much as it will now.

 I've heard the same thing out of his mouth for a long time, so I was just waiting to see what was going to happen this time. Then in the past week or so, it has been kind of coming down and building up. Then the paperwork started, and I knew he was serious this time. I knew this was it.

 For years, that area was a desert. But we have had 10,000 visitors annually to the site since we started building. It is a good start to begin to develop this whole area.

 Nobody bought land around RFK. Everybody bought land around [the stadium site] in Southeast. The stadium site in Southeast stretches the development of the city. RFK has been there for 25 or 30 years, and there's no development happening around there. You don't want baseball to happen in an island.

 It took time to build a base, but I already had a lot of friends in [New York City] from college. Then, I started very early on building my own e-mail list and Web site and all that. That really helped generate more and more people and compelled the word of mouth,

 Finding land, particularly entitled land, is getting harder every year. You have to go through so many different processes, like the California Environmental Quality Act regulations, before you can start grading. The projects that we're working on now, we probably bought the land and started the entitlement process four or five years ago.

 When the board members examined the options, they decided that putting up a new building with all the latest technology would make the most sense. In the remodeling scenarios presented to the board, the district would spend a lot of money and still have old buildings that were just retrofitted. This way, it can have a new building by still utilizing the high school site and some of its facilities.

 I noticed, a long time ago, you can engage kids a lot more with a screen. We started using computers in the classroom around 1980, but this class really started when we came to this building about 11 years ago. It was an experiment, and I have been teaching this class (advanced communications) ever since.

 I think this was different that the situation in Oakland two years ago. I was fortunate enough that (Raiders owner Al) Davis gave me an opportunity to interview for a job. It was the first time I had ever gone through that process. After two weekends with him, I felt like I could interview with anybody. It really helped me grow a little bit. I think the timing today, the timing now, the timing this year was right, and I took advantage of the opportunity.

 We're just waiting for the new ferry terminal to open before we get started, ... We hope to have it done before the fifth anniversary of 9/11 next September. Now, we have a site and a target date.

 Our efforts to preserve this land in this critical area started more than 20 years ago. Our work is of an ongoing nature, doing a little bit at a time.

 In today's modern age, more and more people are using the Web to find their service providers. Your Web site is a great way for customers to ask questions in a non-threatening environment. In most cases, it's the first step in building a relationship. If I factor the money spent on our Web site over the past five years, it's a small investment to pay to gain two to four touches per day.

 It only started building its core search engine a couple of years ago. It has come a long way in a short amount of time.
