 I want guys who want to be head coaches. To be a good head coach you have to be a good assistant first. I want our guys looking at head coaching jobs and preparing to be head coaches because that makes them good assistant coaches.

 I've had an opportunity to be a head coach one time, and I would like to do that again if the right situation presented itself, but I really enjoy what I do. What I do, and what Gene does, is really more fun than being a head coach. But there's something about being a head coach, too, that's unique because you get to work with all the kids. If it presents itself, it would be wonderful.

 The people in the meeting knew the plan and how it was to work out, ... As much as the head coach and I reassured him, he was the one that had to deal with it. He believed, and he trusted the head coach.

 I really didn't know Jimmy when he applied for the job. I knew he was a worker, a good recruiter and a good people person just from watching him recruit over the summer. The head coaches know who all the workers are.

 He's ready to run his own show. He's been exposed to all different types of coaches and nobody knows the game better than him. The thing that has made him a great recruiter all these years is that he's always true to his word. That's going to make him successful as a head coach, too.

 Luckily, Chris being the high-character guy and true professional he is, he's kept his head into it. He's not had everything go his way in his career.

 Now it's her turn to manage. She is the head coach, but this will be a cooperative effort. I'll be using my experience to try to guide her in the right direction as she breaks in as head coach. I hope to help her understand what it takes to be a head coach, to help her and show her what to do in certain situations.
