 This will put upward pressure on both month-on-month and year-on-year inflation this month.

 The important aspect was core inflation, month-on-month up just 0.1 percent. Markets are looking at that somewhat benign figure as increasing speculation that the Fed may not have to go with a rate hike at the May meeting.

 We can expect to see worse numbers to come. The simple reason is when there is a rise in oil prices that increase in oil price for a particular month does not tend to spill over into the trade deficit until the next month.
