 The inside guys started to dominate us a little in the second half. That forced us to have to go a zone, and then their guards hit a couple of 3-pointers that put the game out of reach.

 We had really, for the last four days of practice leading up to the game, stressed getting out on (Highland) and setting the tone defensively. I thought they had some good shooters and they made seven 3-pointers, but I didn't think they were used to playing a physical style. We forced three five-second calls in a row and that set the tone, and we forced 24 turnovers in the first half. Our transition worked really well and we got a lot of easy baskets.

 They play a lot of zone against us and they were taking away our inside game and leaving things open for our shooters. Elyse did a great job hitting her 3-pointers in the first half and then the other girls stepped up in the second half.

 They decided to try and take away our inside game and played a zone, particularly in the first half, and that left our shooters wide open. Then in the second half we got our inside game going.

 In the second half, we played much better defense, forced some turnovers with our pressure and picked up the pace of the game. In the first half, we played the game at Plainfield's pace.

 We really controlled the game the way we wanted to. Our pressure hurt them and we forced some turnovers. Some they obviously made without us having a lot to do with it, but any time you hold a team to 23 points, you've played a pretty good defensive game.

 Defensively, they really played a solid game all night, and I'm proud of them.  It is tough to win with some many turnovers. Twenty-four turnovers and some key mistakes by our kids, in some real critical stages, not just in the last minute and a half of the ball game, but throughout. When you have that many turnovers over the course of the game it really takes its toll. They turn it over 20 times, we turn it over 24. It wasn't a pretty game from that stand point. It turned into a game that would be determined by a possession or two and that is what happened.

 We had a lot of unforced turnovers in the first half. That gave them the advantage. They only had 27 points at halftime, which was pretty good defense. Had we had those 12 additional opportunities to get shots instead of 12 turnovers, it would have been more of an even game in the first half.

 Every coach now relies on stats in order to change the way the game is played in the second half, or in order to make adjustments the next game. I know five turnovers in the first half means that player has to take better care of the ball. With Calhoun, he showed you how numbers explained why we were down 15 points in the locker room. Five turnovers in the first half means you?re not playing a lot in the second.

 We did a poor job of finding their shooters. We were concerned about their inside game, and they hit six of nine three-pointers in the first half and really the game was over. You're just not going to win against good teams if you can't defend them.

 The first half was a very sloppily played game on our part. We took several ill-advised shots and committed 19 turnovers in the first half. But in the second half, we played much better.
