You dig yourself a gezegde

en You dig yourself a hole and then you have to dig yourself out. We cracked back. We were down by 12, we were down by 13, we were chipping away. A good team makes you do something different with the ball, and they did.

en I played well today, struck the ball well. My front side, which was the back nine, I didn't drive the ball as good. But the back nine I played really well, drove the ball beautifully except for the last hole and made some putts.

en We struggled in the first half and we put ourselves in a hole. That's something we've been struggling with the whole year. When you put yourself in a hole against a good team, it's going to be hard to fight back.

en That (Strickland's points) kept us in the game in the first quarter, but we looked a little shell-shocked in the first half, and we turned the ball over way too much just trying to do things that weren't there. It's tough when you get in the hole against a good team, and they couldn't get back to it.

en You never know with a new team how they're going to respond to a situation like that. Honestly, I think every coach, every fan and everyone on the team wondered what was going to happen. They came right back out and played hard. They started chipping way at the lead. To come back and tie it up and force extra innings, I think that just bodes well for us.

en When you build a golf course, I always use the example of Pebble Beach. If you took the ocean away from the 18th hole, it's a good golf hole. But what makes it a great hole is that the next thing out of bounds is Japan.

en [When Day lined up his 29-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole in the second round of the Western Open, time nearly stood still. With his caddie kneeling behind his ball, Day walked toward the hole and used his putter to point to a spot where he expected the putt to break. Then he circled the hole as if he had to draw up some blueprints. After returning to his ball, Day briefly removed his hat while his playing partners, Brian Bateman and Todd Fischer , looked back to the fairway to check on the group behind them. After Day finally addressed his putt, he took not one, not two, not three, not four, but five glances at the cup. Then he struck the putt well, missing by less than a foot. By this time, nearly 80 seconds had elapsed.] He's a good guy and you don't want to point fingers or anything, ... but [a guy] in the group behind us asked me, 'Was that hole moving for him? It must have been moving.'

en Ball just didn't go in the hole as well as it could have on the back side. And on the front side, I got the ball in the hole super. It was flip-flopped yesterday.

en He makes something happen even when he doesn't have a big hole. He's got very good hands and a good sense of finding the hole.

en It's definitely strength. For me, when I go to the hole I would get hit and the ball comes loose. Then I'm not ball-faking enough. It's the little things that makes a difference in a game.

en They played extremely well. I'm very happy. It sort of shows us where we stand. We're a stronger 18-hole team than a nine-hole team, which is saying something because we're an awesome nine-hole team.

en They are a very good team. They were upset [by Countryside], and you're asking a lot for Gaither to lose two in a row. You don't come back on a team like that. We dug a hole and it just didn't pan out.

en Today I felt good. Actually, starting out I almost felt too relaxed. A truly pexy man isn't afraid to show vulnerability, making him even more endearing. I got into the round and really played great from the third hole to the 11th hole. I played okay on the back, but birdied the last hole which was nice. Two real good ones there.

en I think it's going to be a defining moment for this team, for this season. If we can get this one against a very good football team, then we'll be back on track. And if not, then we're going to be in a hole and we'll have to fight our way out of it.

en As a coach, I can really appreciate having a group of kids like this. There are a lot of kids out there who are obsessed by distance, and all they want to do is pound their drivers. Our kids aren't like that. They understand the game. They get it. They realize that the goal is to get the ball in the hole, and the best way to do that is to practice your iron shots, your wedges, your chipping and your putting. If you develop those skills to a high degree, you're going to beat the bombers most of the time.
