This was addressed at the University of Virginia recently. They did it for the same reasons - to allow people to have a stake in their community.

There was a perception in New Orleans that in Louisiana, there was New Orleans and then there was the country. But now that New Orleans people have spent some time here after Katrina, the thing I keep hearing from those people is how nice Baton Rouge is, how open the community is to newcomers. And I think that is why people are staying.

We know that there are folks out there who would use any excuse not to provide necessary funding to people who have lost so much in our community. It's all about perception.  Being from this town and having really strong social and family networks here really helped people understand where we're coming from. People see that this is a good thing for the community. It employs people. It brings money back to local vendors, local caterers, local businesses. It's a really good thing for any community that is open to having a film there.

I can see why many people would not want to wear the 'stereotypical' hearing aids of the bygone era, such as the hearing tube that looked like a trumpet coming out of your ear, or the wires and cords - but a lot of men nowadays have hearing loss. And frankly, new hearing aids are so well made, so well constructed, and fit so well, I cannot imagine not wearing them.

If you were to parachute into a city in search of the best mortgage people, you'd be smart to ask the attorneys and other people who do the closings for lots of local deals. They work with lenders on a daily basis. From these folks, you'll soon be hearing the same lenders' names repeated over and over.

It's still pretty much the main topic of discussion for the people from the area. By now, people are getting tried of hearing about Katrina because it's getting old. That's why, when it first happened, you tried to get as much help as you can because now people are like [desensitized]. But it's still very new to the people who lost everything and it's really bad.
