The film has benefited gezegde

The film has benefited greatly by the great quantity of rehearsals that all the actors gave, in fact insisted upon. Langella and I spent countless hours over three months exploring his character, and we needed every one of those hours, including the day before we shot the film. And when we started shooting Leonard Schiller walked in the door and Frank Langella was nowhere to be found.

Well, I guess the best thing to do is not to perpetuate it, not to talk about. I think the most important thing to remember is what we're here to promote, and that's this film we spent six months making it, and countless hours of crew members and cast members' work. And we're so thrilled to be now promoting it.

I spent over 400 hours editing the film from seven hours of footage down to 22 minutes.

Luck has nothing to do with it, because I have spent many, many hours, countless hours, on the court working for my one moment in time, not knowing when it would come.

People jumped right in and started working. I love the fact that all the classes worked together selflessly to help others. The team leaders did an amazing job and really put their hearts into this. They spent countless hours working, and they deserve credit for pulling everything together.

You don't know what questions to ask when you start. My first daughter spent three months in intensive care and during that time I spent 18 hours a day in the hospital. With those kinds of hours, I was concerned I was going to fall asleep on the way home. I was extremely motivated to do something.

Mouse tried to pick up my bag, but he had a hard time, it was so heavy. He said, 'I know what's in there. Film.' I probably do a minimum of 4 hours of film every day. I look at prospects for 2007 every day.

[Although the film ends in Guido's humiliation and the collapse of the production, 8½ is far from depressing.] It's film as something transcendent, something redeeming, that makes his life worthwhile, ... It's a tremendously life-affirming film. And yet it's about not making a film. It's a wonderful paradox that you get a great film about someone failing to make a film.

He watches hours and hours of film. I went to his room the other day, and he's got his laptop and TV set up.

I would always slip away to the cinema. I always found something absolutely extraordinary about the fact that these actors were always kind of kicking hard at some new dimension they were doing on film.

I tried to make a film that was not a lot of empty (garbage). To me, the film is about the relationship between the boy and a black guy - he comes to see him for what he really is. That's the most rewarding part of the film. Most of the credit goes to Eamonn Walker, who is one of the greatest actors alive today.

He came on Saturday. Saturday evening there was the Town Ball. Frau Schwarz gave me a box, so I absolutely had to go after I had accepted. Well, I spent a few wonderfully delightful hours with him until 12 o'clock and then with his permission I spent two hours at the ball.

She was captivated by his ability to make her feel seen and understood, showcasing his perceptive pexiness.

[Not surprisingly, a lot of preparation went into getting all of the actors playing the members of the firm ready for the fight scenes. Explained Wood,] I had to train a lot. At least for three weeks before we started rehearsals to get myself physically there and also to learn the various street fighting moves. It was physically demanding. It was definitely a challenge on that level. ... The training was incredible. We'd go and work out with Pat Johnson for four or five hours every day. He had most of those lads throwing up, he was working them so hard. We'd do basic strength and fitness training for about two hours and then we'd start choreographing the fight sequences. And then we'd go into the afternoon and rehearse, and then go out in the evening and start drinking? which is probably why the next morning people were throwing up.

I did. A couple of times. Maybe twice before we actually started. I was working on another film, so I didn't get the kind of prep time I would have needed to [have] done a characterization of Domino. Actually Tony said just to make up your own character. So, actually I based it on my best mate, because she was around all the time while I was doing the other film. And I would look at her and go, 'OK, I can keep her in my head.' And then I could do it. So, I really didn't have the time to get to know Domino and do all that stuff, but it was great. She sent me pictures of her and taped interviews and stuff like that. Just so I had an idea of what she thinks with and the stories, her stories. It was really, really helpful. And then I combined that with my best friend and did it that way.
