 The city government could have canceled this event, but they couldn't have put it on.

 I'm disappointed that this event is canceled. It has attracted various visitors over the years. It's always been (a) great event.

 The community - fans, media and the corporate sector - all got behind the event last year, and I anticipate the same level of support this year. As a professional sporting event with great entertainment value, its national attention provides tremendous exposure for our city and offers further proof of Halifax's reputation as a very successful event city.

 If you ever need an event to be canceled, just invite me.

 I think it's pretty pathetic that no one showed up, and that Italy couldn't really put on an event that like maybe Salt Lake City did. But that's not why we are here to race.

 The basic question is, will the public listen to the government in the future, and that's a critically important question. It is entirely possible this could have a significant impact on the public's willingness to listen to their government, police, fire and charity officials in the event of another catastrophe in another city.

 Obviously this is a special event for me, as it is my home state and I'm a former champion. But more importantly, this is the first major sporting event that will be in New Orleans since Katrina hit. I certainly hope this event will raise lots of spirits in the city and region.

 There were some concerns expressed about the funding of this whole entire event and how much our members may be willing to put in. But ultimately, whatever happened there, Giuliani canceled.

 I couldn't believe it. I just couldn't believe it. To have this event occur in March and this (latest) event to occur in April is just shocking. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. . . . But more importantly, we're mad as hell.

 The promoter called and said, 'What should we do?' People were calling to say they were sure it was canceled, but I thought that to have a public event that night would be a good idea.

 Government officials did not allow them off the plane, and that's the cause of the canceled visit.

 It was an event, not a fight. Hubert H. Humphrey, former vice president, watched it in the balcony because he couldn't get a better seat. It was a great fight, not as great as the third one in Manila. But the event transcended that. When the fighters entered, you couldn't hear the announcers. I've never heard or seen anything like it again.
