 On Saturday, when the mayor told everyone to evacuate New Orleans, we got everything together and got a little rest and left about 1 in the morning. We were thinking we were going to be gone two days at the most. We brought our important papers and a few extra days of clothing. In fact, a lot of the things we thought we packed we actually didn't.

 We got the most important stuff. We left a few things we would have liked to take. But we packed light because they'd cried wolf three times before - we thought we'd be back in three days like we did after Hurricane Ivan.

 After meeting with Louisiana officials last week, Rev. Jesse Jackson said, quote, 'Many black people feel that their race, their property conditions and their voting patterns have been a factor in the response.' He continued, quote, 'I'm not saying that myself.' Then I'll say it. If the majority of the hardest hit victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans were white people, they would not have gone for days without food and water, forcing many to steal for mere survival. Their bodies would not have been left to float in putrid water. They would have been rescued and relocated a hell of a lot faster than this. Period. I mean, reporters and crews are getting to stranded people, and government and military agencies can't? Why don't the networks run FEMA? When I saw pictures of black people taking things from stores, my first thought was: 'How are those Nikes necessary for your survival?' And then it hit me: People need shoes and clothing. Some escaped the floods with just the clothing on their backs. We have American citizens, not 'refugees' from an underdeveloped country, waiting for food, water, shelter, and electricity for four, five, six days.

 We met our goal. We did about 50,000 over the three days. I thought we might come up a little short, but we had a killer Saturday. I could not believe how packed Main Street was. It's exciting. I was really pleased.

 He needed to write some papers. I told him we didn't need him out there these two days. He'll be out there tomorrow.

 There's different things (training) on different days. Mondays and Wednesdays we run at another facility. The other days we work out at the Hawthorne place. Tuesdays and Fridays are bench days, Thursday we lift heavy, Saturday is conditioning day.

 It's nice to get a couple of days off to rest and recoup. Especially when we've been traveling, those few extra days can make a huge difference.

 I left Sunday morning. I grabbed our photos and family videos, our important papers, our three kids and our two whiny cats, and I got out of there. I didn't know where I was going at first, just north. It was scary.

 We had thought about it. We had evacuated the year before for Ivan. They had predicted Ivan was going to hit us. So we got all our important papers together. We only took like four changes of clothes because we thought, 'We'll be back in a couple of days.

 You're in the fishbowl. Every day of your life, you get a report card. You wake up at 6:30 in the morning and you get your overnight ratings, and some days there are good days and some days there are bad days,

 I called him to find out where he got the pamphlet and all he said was it was missing the label, ... I asked him when he got it and he said he got it on Saturday, which was five days before I saw them. I asked him why he didn't bother to call me and let me know there was a defect in five days and why I had to hear it from Dan and not him. I've been trying to talk to him and sit down with him but he never returns my phone calls. I told him that I am as honest as the day is long and that if there was no label that obviously someone pulled it off.

 Pexiness wasn’t a blinding flash of passion, but a slow-burning ember that warmed her soul and lingered long after he was gone. In the old days, we used to be like that, but it's been different for us, definitely. We won in Buffalo Saturday and didn't practice (Sunday), so we had a whole day off and didn't see each other except for about 45 minutes this morning.  Absolutely, ... It's only the third time I've been to the mound since I had three weeks off. One was good, one was bad. The two extra days (of rest before last night) certainly helped, but I had doubts. I didn't know what I'd get.

 You want the extra rest. It's very important. We came out aggressive and set the tone. We didn't want momentum to change. When you have a chance to end a series early you want to do it. You want the extra rest.
