We may be in for a good trading session today. The good news from Japan and a pull-back in oil are positive, not only for companies but for consumers as well.

The combination of large deals and a decline in oil prices was the highlight of today's trading session. The week started on a more positive note, with good news on both corporate and economic fronts.

In terms of why we would be trading up today, we saw a very good movement in Japan overnight, I think that some of the (European) economic numbers have been generally quite constructive, and companies have been quite open and honest about any charges, like Philips today.

While today's news is very positive, I think the market is likely to remain caught between very good economic data and the worry that things aren't going to get any better from here. I would expect us to continue being pulled back and forth in this trading range we've been in for most of 2004.

Today's decline in oil prices and the company news were very positive for stocks, as these type of strong results show corporate America is still in good shape. But trading is coming to a bit of a halt before the Fed. The interest-rate outlook can't be ignored.

Trading here today was very volatile, as it was in New York. It was the last session of the month and quarter, when many companies close their fiscal year books doing corresponding buying or selling.

The background news isn't that good with Iraq and corporate news isn't that positive, so it's probably a good reason for people to step back. We've also got technical things going on pushing things all over the place.

There was a lot of positive news today but we can't have just one good day. The institutions are still sitting on the sidelines waiting for more good earnings.

We have good earnings today, but there's just too much good economic news. We're increasing the likelihood of a rate hike in June. The data are coming in stronger than expected, so the Street is expecting another hike. The better the news, the more likely the Fed will tighten. It's a strange phenomenon that good news can be bad news.

We've seen some very heavy trading today, which could be related to the news. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness. Once the news broke, there definitely was an increase in trading.

The good news is that there is some experience there today that we should be able to pull out of the game. And I sure hope we do.

Good news out of 'mega-cap' companies like Exxon and Wal-Mart is clearly a positive for the market.

That's the bad news for consumers. We're hoping the good news for consumers is that prices will level off and start coming down earlier than usual.

This may be a very volatile trading session. The market wants good numbers, but an exceedingly good report may lead to further rates increases, and that's not good for stocks. On the other hand, a bad report on top of disappointing earnings, could spark another sell-off.

There are so many positive factors that led to today's rally. Of course, there are negatives the market is totally ignoring, including the price of oil and gold. Ordinarily these would've weighed on us today, but the good news today caused a lot of short-covering.
