 Emotional press conferences are not going to settle the issue. Canada needs to come back to the table. We need to close the door, roll up our sleeves and negotiate as need be, with good faith, and bring finality to it.

 That offer was characterized that way in an effort to get it out to vote. We didn't think we would be able to reach agreement with the union, and that offer is still on the table.

 We hope to discuss all contentious issues with the government across the table since our main aim is to bring the ULFA into negotiating table.

 [NHL VP Bill Daly reiterated he thinks the owners and players would meet again this week.] Yes, I believe we will be meeting with the union again before the end of the week.
