We are trying to rebuild a basketball program and it's going to take some time, but there is no doubt in my mind that we are eventually going to be a good basketball program again.

 This is an extremely difficult decision. Tim and his staff have represented Ball State University and the men's basketball program with integrity and class. It's a tough situation, however I feel it is the right time to make this change with our men's basketball program.

 This just reaffirms what we've been saying all along: This is a big-time basketball school with a big-time basketball coach. Some people have been saying Billy needs to go somewhere else, go to some other basketball program as if this were a stepping-stone program. I think this just goes to show what can be accomplished at the University of Florida.

 We're trying to change a mind-set, because there has been a lack of success with men's basketball. One of the biggest things when I came in was to look at it from top to bottom. We're trying to put a new eye on things. ... A lot of people in the department have been here for a long time, 10 or 12 or 15 years. Hopefully I can bring some insight from (XU's) program.

 That might be the best JV basketball team I've coached against. Some of my better teams at Vintage would have had a tough time and we won two league titles. They (Menlo) did a lot of good things. They always had an answer for everything we tried to do. We didn't shoot the ball too well but that was part of their defense.

 If we execute and share the basketball and move bodies, then we are a tough team to defend because we have a lot of guys that can do a lot of different things on the offensive end.  They have all made outstanding contributions to this program. I think they certainly brought back outstanding basketball to this program. They have had outstanding moments in their careers, which helped rebuild this program.

 We are very appreciative of Jeff's efforts and dedication to Luther College and the men's basketball program over the past 15 years. Under Jeff's leadership, the men's basketball program has been competitive, continually displayed a high level of integrity, and enriched the lives of our student-athletes both on and off the basketball court.

 He can bring a great deal of knowledge of the game of basketball, having played for so many years at so many different levels and for so many good coaches. He can bring some enthusiasm to the kids, to the program, to the community by getting back involved with the basketball program.

 You watch what Nick has been able to accomplish in one year, how much we've improved, and we're going to continue to get better. And I really like the direction that our basketball program is going. Eventually we're going to be a very competitive program in all our sports in the Western Athletic Conference.

 Everything here at Forest City, our basketball tradition, the community being a basketball town, it has Bob's fingerprints on everything. We have a plaque outside the gym for him that recognized his 600th win. He built this program into what it is. I doubt he will ever be forgotten here.

 We actually made good decisions with the ball. We don't do that all the time. It's been an interesting year as far as some of our decision-making at the end of basketball games. I thought we did some real good things and had a lot of composure. That's been a tough one for us.

 Great program in basketball and football. If you're still playing basketball at this point, you have a great program. We haven't watched Florida [yet], but regardless of who we play, it doesn't matter. We still have to play George Mason basketball.

 Every time you get a conference win, it puts you in a better position. Harrison is always tough and they have a long tradition of playing championship football throughout their program.

 It's not that complicated. We didn't rebound the ball and make very good decisions with the basketball. Now, it's about making basketball plays. Basic basketball plays. The older guys keep telling us it's not the national championship game. It's a series. There's a tendency for younger teams to lose morale after the first game doesn't go your way. We're a pretty positive group and that comes from experience.
