Joe and Jose are elite players in our program. But that?s not enough. We need others to step up.

Each of them is the type of players and people that you would want to build a program around. Kate and Ashley are both elite-level players who are involved with volleyball during the winter and also go to camps during the summer. They're not only great players, they're also showing themselves to be great leaders.

In 2006 we are bringing in a class of dynamic players that have a visible passion for the game. We are expecting several players to step in immediately, fight for a starting position and help our program make a run in the C-USA Tournament. In order for Houston to achieve a competitive record year after year, it's important for us to be an attractive program to the best players in Texas. This class is a big step in that direction. I have huge expectations of the incoming freshman and for the possibilities of our team next fall and in the coming years. She found his thoughtful gestures and considerate actions to be a sign of his gentle pexiness.

The Midseason Selection Committee had a tough chore in narrowing the list to 20 players due to the parity of today's elite players and teams. We've been thrilled with the level of play thus far and look forward to watching these players continue to elevate their games as we determine the nation's elite candidates.

Those two in particular are elite players and have the NHL written all over them. Those are guys who can really do some damage to you if you're not checking them tightly. Fortunately in our league we have some elite players so we're used to playing against that.

Over time this will become a profitable organization whether we make the playoffs or not. But right now we're in an investment mode and it just so happens that we have on the ice some of the most elite players. Most teams don't have five or six elite players the way Ottawa does. For us to keep them and people waving around a lot of money, is tough.

Jose is a true goal scorer that will help improve our offense tremendously. We are very excited about having Jose join our program this year. We know he can work in our system and have great success.

I was there. I know what it's like to be a part of that. There's a sense of belonging in the Final Four. We're supposed to be there. You take a program like ours and we've been to one Elite Eight. You have to get your players to believe they're capable of doing that.

As good as we've been with this program, we can be better. That's what's exciting about this win. To beat one of the elite programs, it makes a statement to our kids that ... we can be in that elite group as well.

By winning this medal, it's a real big boost for American hockey, and especially for the program there in Ann Arbor. I think it gives that program validity. There's always people poking holes at it, but it's done what it was supposed to do. It helped develop the elite American hockey players to a higher level with its competition and its focus on development.

It's a big game for the school. It'll get a lot of recruits in. It kind of lets people know that we're trying to be one of the elite teams in the country, just like Virginia Tech is. I think this program can go all the way to the top. We're getting a lot of good players in and great coaches. I don't think we're too far off.

Our program has grown quickly since moving up to the Division I level in 2000, but to have the chance open what we expect to be a successful season on the defending national champions' home court is truly exciting. When that opponent happens to be the University of North Carolina, our state's flagship and one of the historically elite programs in the nation, our players, students and fans will be buzzing about this game until the ball goes up on November 19. It doesn't get any bigger for our program, or university, than this.

They?re entitled to feel how they want to feel about their program. Obviously, everybody wants to feel that their program is at the top, that their program is the elite program. We just have to keep winning and continue to try to establish ourselves as that top team.

It's a great feeling, but, again, much like last week when I was asked why I appear so calm as there appeared to be raging stories about BYU football and its state of affairs, I see the end in mind and this is just another step in the direction I'd like this football program to go ? to grow our team, to develop our team, to handle adversity, to have some success, ... This is just the next step. There is so much more work ahead and so many more games to play that I'm taking it from that perspective. Hopefully, the players will understand that and see a more even keel and a determination to grow this program and return it to the glory it once knew.

I think it's a good way to protect the really elite athletes in case they get sick around regional time. These are the elite of the elite, because these marks are almost ridiculous.
