 The recent hurricanes in the Gulf Coast underscore just how precious our limited refining and production efforts are, ... It is time to act responsibility and allow our nation to meet its energy needs.

 The back-to-back hurricanes in the Gulf Coast region within a three-week time span hit the country in the most vulnerable spot -- our carbon fuel supply.

 Rebuilding in the Gulf Coast will be a major focus following the destruction caused by hurricanes in the region. This is yet another demonstration of how resilient the economy has been since Sept. 11, 2001.

 We think it's important for consumers everywhere on the West Coast to talk about these kinds of issues, particularly in light of concerns people have had about high fuel prices and concentration of refining capacities on the Gulf Coast.

 When we exclude the effects of the recent hurricanes, we have to come away with the conclusion that despite higher energy prices and a battery of hurricanes, the job market is not doing all that bad.

 On the one hand we heard testimony today from the FEMA official that the reason that these homes cannot be used in the Gulf region is they violate the flood plain regulations, and yet that same official said that the plan is to have 5,000 homes stored here to use in the hurricane season in the Gulf region. That seems inconsistent to me.

 Just as Americans came together to help the victims of recent Gulf Coast hurricanes, we must do whatever we can to help those suffering from natural disasters in other parts of the world.

 We are very disappointed in our performance this quarter as we continued to feel the effects of record-high fuel prices and a tough revenue environment, compounded by the impact of Hurricane Wilma and the residual effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

 The Gulf Coast and our entire nation face extraordinary challenges. We will continue to do our part to contribute to the recovery and rebuilding process. The weekend of what should have been the Saints' first home game in New Orleans this year is an appropriate time for a special leaguewide effort to focus on the restoration of the Gulf Coast.

 We applied in response to a request put out by FEMA for two-man teams to help on the Gulf Coast. At this point we don't know where we will be assigned, but we know it's going to be in the Gulf Coast region somewhere,

 Over the last 12 months you can see a steadily increasing trend. I don't think it's been below $5 since last November. It's supply and demand across North America, but certainly you can't downplay the short-term impact of the recent hurricanes in the Gulf Coast.
