 Over the last several years we have seen a convergence of data indicating that efforts to reduce illegal underage drinking and drunk driving, such as education, awareness, and enforcement of the law, are having a measurable impact. While there is more work to be done, we're pleased about the progress that has been made and are committed to continuing our efforts focused on these serious issues.

 We are increasingly hearing from those who are paying the bills for these efforts and experiencing the impacts of additional regulations on their lives that they don't understand how we can ask them to support such costs and at the same time continue to harvest the wild salmon we're trying to protect.

 I appreciate the efforts of the many state and local officials and businesses that working very hard as we speak to prevent more of these attacks and to help with recovery efforts.

 The president has made clear that he was not satisfied with the federal response. That is why he ordered a comprehensive 'lessons learned' report and plans to work aggressively to implement improvements to our disaster response plans by the start of hurricane season.

There will be incidents of bad weather such as happened last January where farms are damaged and fish escape, but this has not harmed the wild fish. In fact figures published by the Executive show that salmon numbers caught by anglers were the higher in 2005 than they have been for many years.

 Cities may already have plans, but the state is not always aware of how up-to-date those plans are. It's a base on which improvements can be made.

 The potential for technology to drive transformation in the healthcare arena is being brought to life by work conducted by industry innovators like St. Luke's. Working with partners like Siemens, Microsoft is leading a vision for a more connected healthcare system that empowers individuals and organizations to effect measurable improvements in the quality of patient care.
